    Mussee D’Orsay

    June 25, 2024 in France ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

We visited the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, a former railway station turned into a breathtaking art museum. Its impressive collection spans from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, showcasing masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh, and Degas and many more. Wandering through the grand halls and viewing iconic works like “The Ballet Class”, but also contemporary art by Nathanelle Herbelin was an awe-inspiring experience. The blend of stunning architecture and remarkable art made it a highlight of our trip. Afterwards we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Chez Janou - have been there, will be back, for sure 😋Read more

  • Promenade Plantee & Pere Lachaise

    June 26, 2024 in France ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

We began our day with a leisurely stroll along the Promenade Plantée, a stunning elevated park that provides lush greenery and different views of the city – a refreshing contrast to the bustling streets of central Paris, where Parisians and tourists blend and mingle. With temperatures climbing to around 30 degrees, it was the perfect start to a hot day.

For lunch, we savored classic French cuisine at Chez Janou, enjoying the cozy ambiance and delicious dishes (oh gosh…the Mousse au Chocolat!!!).

In the afternoon, we delved into the history of Père Lachaise Cemetery, paying our respects to renowned figures like Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison. Dinner at Chez Toinette was a delight, offering a charming atmosphere and delectable fare. There was more space for another dessert 😅, of course.

As night fell, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant nightlife along Rue Princesse, where the lively crowd and eclectic music made for an unforgettable evening. However, not all metros whisked our students straight back to Jo&Joe’s Hostel in Gentilly, as we had extended curfew until 11 PM. Nonetheless, we waited for the others in front of the hostel, passing the time with card games and relishing the warm night.

  • Maraise: Picasso M. & Centre Pompidou

    June 27, 2024 in France ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

We spent an inspiring day at the Picasso Museum, where my favorite piece was the Portrait of Marie-Thérèse Walter. At the Centre Pompidou, I admired Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait, along with works by Matisse and van Dongen. Wandering through the Marais, my favorite neighborhood, I was thrilled to discover an authentic Banksy piece. Later, we indulged in an all-you-can-eat Flammkuchen feast at Flam’s. To cap off the evening, we explored Montmartre by night, soaking in the charming atmosphere and breathtaking views of Paris illuminated against the night sky.Read more
