Day 4: Exit Medellin to Cartagena

Manola, a tour operator in Medellin picked us up in the morning and the plan was to visit the Communa 13 and Pablo Escobar museum. The history of Communa 13 is ridden with gang wars, guerrillas controlling the district and the government effort over two decades to take control which is a story to be witnessed in a full length movie. The whole Communa has transformed into a peaceful colorful positive neighborhood. Poverty still lurks.
From there we picked up our bags from the hotel and went to the Pablo Escobar museum. Got an inside view into his world represented by his nephew Nick. The jury is still out on how bad he really was as he was a modern day Robinhood. After the museum, we got to the airport to get to Cartagena.
Alex, our tour operator in Cartagena arranged for our pick up. Our Airbnb was lacking some and we quickly pivoted to booking into the Wyndham hotel. We nursed a pregame of Eagle rare in the hotel before taking a cab to the walled city and had dinner at a very nice restaurant named Montesucro, a Mediterranean caribe fusion restaurant. The sangria was outstanding. We walked around the walled city and were very impressed by the vibe. We came back to the hotel, poured ourselves a night cap and played a round of Five Crowns.
