Day 1: Travel and Settle In

    November 11, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °F

Met the large Swamy contingent in the ATL Priority Pass lounge before boarding the Delta flight to Los Cabos. Flight arrived 15 minutes early. By the time we received our bags, cleared customs and took our rental car, it was a little over an hour, not bad at all. Headed to our Airbnb property which took a little time to drive to Cabo San Lucas and also find the place. It is a lovely 3 BR 3 BA place with a nice pool, yard and hot tub.
Deepak found an amazing marina front restaurant called Hacienda Cocina Y Cantina for lunch and we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon there. Had spicy cucumber margaritas and Deepak broke his non-alcoholic streak and partook much to our surprise. We were also introduced to a new cocktail called Carajillo, tastes like an espresso martini. Food was outstanding which included table side guacamole, heart of palms ceviche, Shrimp tacos, Fillet of fish with rice, and a Fettuccini pasta. We had Cabos best Churros with chocolate and caramel syrup.
Accidentally, bumped into the Swamy’s who all were going to the same place for dinner.
Hoped over to Walmart and picked up a Single Malt and a few nibbles. Headed back to our Airbnb property and settled in and played our newest fun card game Five Crowns introduced to us by Sahil and Grace. Called it a night a little after 10 pm.
Ready for the next day where we have engaged a local lady to come and make us a Mexican home cooked breakfast.

  • Day 2: Cabo San Lucas Visit

    November 12, 2025 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

Day 2 started with engaging our Airbnb host to arrange a chef to make breakfast. We were indulged with fresh fruits, eggs and Mexican fare like Chilequiles and salsa verde on the backyard lawn. We signed up for a boat tour of the arches on the sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean. We ended the night with a dinner at Acres restaurant which was divine. Baisiwala’s joined the Rama and Rao gang.Read more

  • Day 5: Baraat, Wedding Ceremony & Recept

    November 15, 2025 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

Started the day with a delicious breakfast, poached eggs on a bed of roasted vegetables. Took a long time to get our food, so we had to rush and get ready for the Baraat. Managed to join in on time. Wedding was beautiful overlooking the pacific ocean with boats, cruise ship and a few whales providing entertainment in the background. Got roasted in the sun but it was well worth it. Hung out in the afternoon in the pool with my partner in crime Nikhil Mathur. Ended the day with the cocktail hour and reception that included drinks on the lawn with the sunsetting and a live band for the reception. Bailed on the after party at a roof top bar and ended the night sooner than we normally do. Time to pack up and head home soon.Read more

  • Day 6: Send off Brunch and San Jose

    November 16, 2025 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

Joined the wedding families and guests for a send off breakfast at the Nobu restaurant. Good spread of fruits, breads and some Mexican delicacies. Checked out of the hotel at noon and drove to our next Airbnb in San Jose del Cabo.
After check in, we went to the Seven Seas ocean front restaurant for some cocktails and light bites. The view of the ocean and surfers was beautiful.
For dinner, we had several choices that we were debating. Another Mexican inspired meal was being avoided and we stumbled upon The Kitchen which by far was the best food experience. From a sour dough bread of 1166 days culture served with smoke butter to heirloom tomatoes with hummus and herbs, mussels with white wine sauce, chargrilled beats, shrimp and noodles in chilli oil topped off by a cocktail named playboy that had mezcal, jalapeños for a mezcalita, everything was unique and delicious. Capped off the dinner with a cheesecake with berry sauce on the side.

  • Day 7: San Jose and Return to Atlanta

    November 17, 2025 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

Woke up and chose to go to Drift restaurant for an early breakfast. Plan was to finish breakfast in town, return to Airbnb and head to the airport after topping off gas. At Drift, our waiter Mau was amazing, a philosophy major, bar tender by evening and a tattooed body with exquisite tattoos. Had ginger shots at Drift followed by the best coffee over the week and a personal choice delicious breakfast - I chose American as I got tired of Mexican.

Got to the airport, rejoined the Swamy wedding group and checked in all the bags at $0 cost. Reached ATL on time, breezed through all formalities, collected bags and got home in a little over an hour. That’s a wrap for now on Los Cabos.

  • Day 2: Bogota to Medellin

    December 28, 2025 in Colombia ⋅ ☀️ 61 °F

Got rest after a day of traveling and day 1 activities. Had a full complimentary breakfast at the Sheraton Four points. John, our chauffeur, met us at 9 am and took us to the Catedral de Sal which is about 2 hours away from Bogota. Well worth the drive - it is Columbia’s first wonder. We spent over two hours in the caves covering 22 stations centered around Christ and the cruxifiction. Had lunch at Grana nearby which was excellent in this quaint town. Next went to the Bodero museum which is not wholly our cup of tea. Headed to airport and checked into our flight to Medellin. Reached on time and were picked up by Manolo, our driver for next few days. Reached hotel around 9 only to learn most restaurants closed early on Sunday. Were told at front desk that Provenza about 10 mins had a night life. Dumped our luggage and Ubered to Provenza. Rest is history.Read more

  • Day 4: Exit Medellin to Cartagena

    December 30, 2025 in Colombia ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

Manola, a tour operator in Medellin picked us up in the morning and the plan was to visit the Communa 13 and Pablo Escobar museum. The history of Communa 13 is ridden with gang wars, guerrillas controlling the district and the government effort over two decades to take control which is a story to be witnessed in a full length movie. The whole Communa has transformed into a peaceful colorful positive neighborhood. Poverty still lurks.
From there we picked up our bags from the hotel and went to the Pablo Escobar museum. Got an inside view into his world represented by his nephew Nick. The jury is still out on how bad he really was as he was a modern day Robinhood. After the museum, we got to the airport to get to Cartagena.
Alex, our tour operator in Cartagena arranged for our pick up. Our Airbnb was lacking some and we quickly pivoted to booking into the Wyndham hotel. We nursed a pregame of Eagle rare in the hotel before taking a cab to the walled city and had dinner at a very nice restaurant named Montesucro, a Mediterranean caribe fusion restaurant. The sangria was outstanding. We walked around the walled city and were very impressed by the vibe. We came back to the hotel, poured ourselves a night cap and played a round of Five Crowns. Sonal won. Called it a night after the game.
