Day 7: Cartagena to Bogota to Atlanta

We took an early morning flight from Cartagena to Atlanta with a layover in Bogota. Since we had over 7 hours of layover in Bogota, we contacted our driver friend John Rojas in Bogota to pick us up from the airport and take us to the Museo del Oro or gold. We spent a couple of hours at the museum and tried to do lunch in the historic center. But, as none of the restaurants were open for lunch before noon, we decided to return to the airport to complete check in. The flight landed on time and Trisha picked us up at the airport. We learned that at the same time that we were returning to the US, Venezuela was attacked and he was arrested for drug trafficking charges. We just got lucky as we had no flight interruptions.
