Day 13
Sightseeing in Burgos
Cassie arrives today!!! Looks like around 1 pm. We’ll spend the day taking in the City of Burgos and enjoying a nice hotel. Then we’ll make a plan on how we want toRead more

TravelerRe: planning and days off keep in mind that most Soanish museums are closed on Mondays, if part of planning for rest days is to play tourist. I would recommend Burgos (you already there 😊), Leon, Ponferrada & Astorga, although the latter can be skipped if arrived in town early (go to Cathedral and Bishop's Palace and chocolate museum, if you never been in such before, else may skip that). Buen Camino
TravelerWe have 5 days off to spend between now and Santiago. Today counts as one of them. We also may want to spend a day in Madrid before we fly out. Planning/adapting is a fluid and non-stop part of this journey. Would appreciate any and all insight.
TravelerSee above. I spent 3 days in Madrid after my Camino... of course to each his/her own but in retrospect I wish I didn't do that and spent some time relaxing in Finisterre (I walked Camino Finisterre after Santiago) or come back to Santiago and spend more time there (also spent 3 days immediately post-Camino). Take another day in Burgos tomorrow and visit the Cathedral and Citadel and maybe another museum, if so inclined
TravelerGreat input. Thank you! I didn’t realize some of the museums closed today.
TravelerJust double check to be sure 😁. In Ponferrada there is a Templars Castle (although quite reconstructed) and I wanted to visit it very much...and of course walked into Ponferrada on Monday...🥲. Re further planning if you stop at Hornillos del Camino after Burgos do attend Pilgrims Mass!! That priest is SOMETHING ELSE and the service left most of us crying emotional but happy tears. Coming up on Fromista if the Canal boat is there and running (check the schedule) Take that. 2 euros and a nice relaxing 5km instead of hoofing them up... Visit San Martin church and go eat in El Chiringuito Del Camino restaurant- THE BEST Iberian ribs EVER.... ON Meseta once you leave Carrion de Condes take plenty of provisions and water there is NADA for the next 17km!!! And if planning to stop in Hospital de Orbido after León consider Albergue San Miguel. Arturo & Petra are just absolute sweethearts. Good luck planning, so much awesome stuff still lies ahead. Again, feel free to reference my trip here ...
TravelerLove this, we will look for the canal boat in Fromista and hope to find these ribs you speak of. Mouth is watering just thinking of it. Keep ya posted and will check your Camino Find Penguin page for some more ideas.
