Thanks Brice for the ride to the airport and for taking car of my new bike. Hope you manage to give it a spin, but not a tumble.

I’ll miss these two kiddos. But, the photo of them together will keep me company and show me how much Dominic grows in 14 days.

I’ve arrived, give me some island time!

Arrived and picked up bags. Claimed my tiny rental car and drove 18 minutes to the Howzit Hostel. Checked in and went looking for a restaurant. Eating at the Empanada Lady’s restaurant. Good food! Great laidback atmosphere. Ahhhh! Vaca has started.Read more

On the Boat

Whale watching is exciting, but you’ll just have to take my word for it because I was too busy hanging on to the boat so I didn’t fall off to get pictures of the whales. I saw about 3 breaches, 10 fins, and 6 mother’s with their calves. Not any real close up and a photo or video wouldn’t have really done it justice. The winds was blowing like crazy, but I was told that this harbor was one of the windiest in the World and that this was a “normal” day. No sea sickness- whoot whoot! I like the big catamaran. The ocean breeze and being able to sit out on the front of the boat on the net really was pleasant. I took two Dramamine and also wore the acupressure bracelets. I wasn’t taking any chances!Read more
TravelerDid you see any dolphins? I love a catamaran boat to and sitting on the net with the wind and spray - nothing else like it. Glad you kept your breakfast down. How does it feel to have seen the whales?

TravelerI am obsessed with whales now!! So awe inspiring. No dolphins. Now I want to take a long sailing adventure on a catamaran. Maybe a bit too emboldened by my non-seasickness.

A Day of long walks

Had a great omelette and latte before a day filled sightseeing and walking. In between two long walks I paused for a deluxe foot massage and pedicure.
Traveler I see you are taking what we learned in Spain and applying it to your Maui travels! What a delightful treat after your hard work.

Beach, garden, and gallery walks.

Went to Maui Tropical Plantation, where I had a fresh papaya parfait, after a long walk on the beach near Kihei.. So many different beaches, I could walk a different one everyday!! Saw art by Dale Zarrella Sculpture Studio & Gallery.Read more

Vistas and blowhole

I just started driving this morning and pulled over wherever I saw a vista. This lead to many, many whales sightings. They were really out playing in the water today!! I also spotted a bunch of cars pulled off the side of the road pulled over too. It was a trailhead which lead down to a blowhole. Really enjoyed the spontaneity of the day, later found out I drove the entire western side of Maui making it to The Nakalele Blowhole located on Nakalele Point at the northernmost point on the western half of Maui, Hawaii. This little Chevy Spark is getting its wheels driven off. Maybe the eastern side tomorrow.Read more

In the morning I visited this beautiful spot to see the Needle, a spire like mountain feature. Pretty gardens, river swimming holes, and paved walkways made a great starter to the day.

Bribes to complete 10 miles

I bribe myself that I get special treats after each set of 10,000 steps toward a 30,000 step goal. That’s between 10-11 miles according to my step app. There are so many miles of beach here that I have not walked the same path twice, and I can always find a reward at 10,000 steps.Read more
