    Iglesia de la Purisima

    July 28, 2018 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

The convent of the Agustinas and the church of la Purísima form a cloister set located in the historic centre of Salamanca

The foundation of the convent is due to Manuel de Zúñiga and Fonseca, Count of Monterrey, in 1636 to house his daughter, Inés Francisca de la Visitación, who was prioress of it. The works were completed in 1687. The Convent is located in front of the Monterrey Palace, residence of the patron.

The Church of the Immaculate, public part of the convent, was thought by the count as a funeral chapel for himself and his family.
