    December 3 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ -6 °C

The ship, video, sounds it’s foghorn just before to alert the longshoremen of arrival and secure the mooring ropes, this is also traditional with Hurtigruten

Arriving at Hammerfest it was really cold, apparently on the same latitude as Northern Siberia at 70’39’48” and described as, …lies on the boundaries of human existence under Arctic conditions’

Hammerfest is the home of ‘The Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society’, of which we are members and I was at last able to replace my lost patches and Lainey said hello to her friend before we set off to wander the town

The Protestant Church symbolises the Holy Trinity and also the traditional drying racks. The mural, pictured, is actually from St Mikael Kirke and is the northernmost Catholic Church

A nice Christmassy feel to the town which is so nicely understated, unlike the UK where we start in October!

Attached is the official position re Night, Astro Twilight, Nautical Twilight and Civil Twilight…commonly known as day/night and in the charts it simply says:

    Sun: Down all day
    Moon: Up all day
