    Weather 80s and sunny

[PHOTO_ID_L=providence-ri-capital.jpg] We left the great city of Boston today with plenty of sunshine. We set off for Plymouth and Cape Cod only to realize it is Saturday. Everyone appears to go to Cape Cod on a sunny weekend. We decided against it since it would be more than an hour off of our route already. We rerouted to Rhode Island, specifically New Port to the Cliff Walk. We were taking a chance on a suggestion from one of Paul's clients. It was an hour to the coast off-route to Connecticut but that is ok because we just have the road ahead of us. We stopped at the Capital of RI first. Took a peek and on our way.

New Port is at the bottom of RI across two bridges and is the most charming town with lots of[PHOTO_ID_R=on-the-cliffs-in-newport.jpg] summer folks and little stores and restaurants. We were so glad we went there. We headed to the Cliff Walk which leads you to a really nice beach. The walk is along the cliffs past all of the mansions on the water. B-E-A-utiful. There is a walking path about 3.5 miles along the coast. We did 3/4 of a mile because much of the path out to the point is closed because of the Hurricane. [PHOTO_ID_L=newport.jpg] We walked it to the beach. Along the way Matthew and Elizabeth and I wandered down the cliff to the water (no, not all that safe). Paul and Ben didn't even know we went down. It was pretty cool. They swam in the Beach of red seaweed or plankton or whatever it was rolling in at the time. ick. Just another validation for my not swimming in there. Great town, awesome cliff walk and nice beach (when red stuff isn't rolling in.) Recommend a visit.

[PHOTO_ID_L=1-beach-in-newport.jpg] RI, check. Now off to Connecticut to stay in Stamford for the night via dinner in Mystic. So glad we went to Mystic. Another awesome little port town. I tell you, our country is as charming as Europe in a more modern sense. Loving it. There was an art fair going on in the streets of Mystic. Of course, we had to visit the filming location of Mystic Pizza (I love Julia). We had dinner there which in fact has really good pizza. We had pizza, huge salad, huge calzone and garlic bread for 42.00. Ridiculously cheap. And delicious. They play the movie Mystic Pizza 24/7. We wandered around town and watched the Mystic draw bridge. Another recommended town to visit.[PHOTO_ID_R=mystic-pizza.jpg]

Off to Stamford, CT for the night at a Hilton to take the train into NYC tomorrow. This one makes me a little nervous because its caotic. Paul and I have spent a little bit of time there in different seasons (including the winter death march from Brooklyn to Central Park) with our tour guide Dave "Stone", Paul's brother. We won't be on the same type of tour as the adult ones we've been on in the past (Russian Vodka Room - to warm up of course, inside and out). Hard to believe we are now into week two. So much left to see and do.
