  • Port Hedland turf club

    Arrived after lunch bit of a dust bowl but will do it for two nights. We went out and shopped in the afternoon and had a good look around Port Headland which is really just a iron or port and terminal.
    Lots and lots of road trains on the trip up from Karijini to Port Headland.
    Day two discovered the Port Headland Emporium where we bought our recovery tracks and lots of other stops great shop in the evening. We went on the kangaroo tour and got some pizza for tea.

  • Eighty mile beach

    Arrived today and set up camp nice powered site at the G’Day Park. Nothing much out here other than the caravan park.
    Day two and a nice walk on the beach in the morning Julie is no good. She has Come down with bad sinus. Michael and I went fishing in the afternoon. I caught one a nice threadfin salmon.
    Day 3 nice quiet morning walked up the beach again and reset the fishing rig ready for another crack at those threadfins. Michael caught a keeper and all i caught was a tiny 4” job that had to go back

  • Broome

    Easy drive up the great Northern Highway today to Broome.
    We’re at the Tarangau Caravan Park for six nights then off to Cape Leveque
    Had quite a few parcels delivered to Broome got the thermostat to fix the hot water the gas hot water.
    Big shop here and a good look around.
    Went out on the Contessa C today to see the snub fin dolphins and the sunset on the boat

  • Lombadina

    A short two hour drive up from Broome strong headwind for the 1st 3rd of the drive. The Lombadina caravan park is owned and run by the aboriginal community here there are quite a number of aboriginal communities around Cape Leveque. We’re able to have fires here so it’s back to some nice lamb chops on the grill beautiful.
    Day two was a cultural tour with Brian Lee, it was a very comprehensive seven hour relaxed tour looking over the Kooljaman community. We saw the old desert luxury camp ground beautiful Hunter Creek. We went in Michael‘s Isuzu and got bogged, had to use both the winch and the recovery tracks to get out.
    Day three was a trip up to Cygnet Bay Pearl farm where we did a tour of the Pearl farm quite interesting. Another beautiful spot had lunch at the restaurant there some lovely fish and chips and then back for a relaxing afternoon at Lombadina

    Came down from Lombadina today to Broome where we shopped and stocked up on all items because we’ll be free camping for about a week.
    Headed out of broom and we camped out tonight at Willare at the back of the information Bay not the best campsite we’ve had however We’ve made it comfortable.Read more

    Overnight stop here at the beautiful Mary River dry at the moment but a lovely campsite by the river got the fire going and going to have a lovely barbecue tea

  • Spring creek rest area (Bungle Bungles)

    Pulled up here at Spring Creek rest stop for two nights and we’re going to head into the bungle bungle tomorrow 52 km track and four-wheel-drive. Only they’re saying it’s gonna take two hours to do the 52 km. I think that’s a bit overstated but will report in tomorrow night.
    Go to here and left at 8:30 to head into the bungle bungle 53 km down a pretty ordinary corrugated dirt track but spectacular scenery around the bungle bungle had a few walks into the Dome and Cathedral gorge then went up to echidna and walked to the Osmond Lookout And the echidna Chasm

  • Wyndham

    Couple of nights here at Wyndham to investigate the short end of the east end of the Gibb Road River Road and have a look at Perry‘s lagoon
    Day two here spent the morning out at Perry‘s lagoon doing a bit of bird watching then into town to the Oasis Cafe for some lunch and then went and had a look at the port and the lookout.

  • Kununurra

    Arrived here and Setup camp do a little bit of shopping and then we had a relaxing afternoon.
    Day two spent exploring around Kununurra we went to the information centre then up to Miramar National Park the Lookout. Out to the Hoochery distillery and had some lunch. Out to Ivanhoe Crossing and drove across the Ivanhoe crossing. Called into the Ivanhoe Road cafe and had a lovely coffee and orange cake. then out to Molly Springs where we had a swim in the pool below the waterfall.Read more

    Spent the day out at El questro today on the Gibb River Road walked to Zebedee Springs which was a bit of a letdown and absolutely packed with people.

  • Creek campground (Victoria river)

    3 1/2 hour drive up from Kununurra and we’re camped out at a little spot by some sort of creek. That’s a tributary for the Victoria River. On the walk this morning I saw a lifer. the redback kingfisher sitting on the power lines photographs not very good but a lifer is a lifer.Read more

    Good drive up the highway today fuelled up and bought a pie for lunch at Katherine had great fuel economy from Katherine Up to tonight. Stop at Coomalie Creek.

    Back again at attack Creek just for the night picked up a bit of wood on the way down here today from Mataranka and we’re gonna have a nice fire tonight and maybe some chops on the barbecue

    Bit of a long trip today up from attack Creek to Camooweal Billabong a little bit of trouble with the Sterling on the way massive failure on the spring rear left-hand spring broke had to repair that caused a lot of tyre wear on the front set of tyres so we had to swap the tyres over from side to side But we got going again.Read more

    two nights here at Lara wetlands just relaxing. Got a beautiful fire going and a couple of nice walks and some bird watching.

    Good trip down from May’s Bend on the Darling River today had a beautiful north wind at the back of us which made our fuel economy look great. Drove through a bit of rain and top temperature for the day is only 15° so we’re well and truly back into the southern Winter. We’re on the Lachlan River here just outside Hillston got the fire going and going to have a few chops for tea.Read more
