After landing in Paris, we took a train and traveled northwest to the Normandy city of Rouen, a 2000 year old city and the 5th largest French port on the Seine. To get a quick overview of the “old town” we hopped on the tour train to get our bearings for tomorrow’s full day of exploring the old part of Rouen. It’s a place of medieval, narrow cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, old churches and the magnificent Cathédrale Nôtre Dame. We enjoyed our first French meal at Brasserie Paul where I had my croque monsieur and steak frites with a glass of Normandy hard cider. It was so good that we ended up back there for dinner which was finished off with au mousse chocolat Cluizel à la Normande! Today’s photos are just quick snapshots of the area.
