Day 3 Hawaii Kai (Oahu)

-Hanauma bay: nice beach but so many people! Also it was too cold for the beach
-Mokapua point (east): casual hike up a paved road with awesome views along the way
-Kailua beach (up north): wind surfers
-Pali highway: cuts across Oahu in the middle
-Highway Inn: dinner with Andy and fam

Today we were blessed with just a cloudy weather (instead of rainy like yesterday!). Albeit it being chilly, we were able to go to a beach and do a few easy hikes.

For dinner, we met up with Andy and family and tried Hawaiian cuisine. Jeff tried loco Moco (burger Patty with egg on top and slathered with gravy), and I did the mixed dish of lomi salmon (salsa with salmon), steamed purple sweet potato, haupia (sweet tofu-like dessert), pork lau lau (pork and rice wrapped in taro leaf), and added squid lu'au (squid+taro paste not pictured). Haiwaiians also like to eat this taro paste called poi. You're supposed to dip salty meats in it. I supposed it kind of acts like a starch like rice. I think it's just ok~ but to each their own.もっと詳しく
