• Kaltjiti / Fregon

    20–24 sept., Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

After almost 2,600 km and 36.5 hours, I arrived in Kaltjiti / Fregon on Saturday. Sophie, the deputy principal, gave me a super warm welcome at the school, where I also received the key to our house for four nights and a food box. The village is very small (around 200 people), though all families have a “Homeland” they regularly return to.
To get here, we needed a special permit, which we had to apply for before the trip.

We filmed with Dominic, whose grandmother also works at the school. Together with him, we visited his Homeland, where his father keeps camels. On the last evening we played with the kids on the football oval and in the riverbed with the balls we’d brought them. A few really lovely days 😊
