Good Friday! A nice easy 16k almost all down hill. Really enjoyable. Got my pilgrims meal lunch, with wine, of course. That lead to a nice nap 😊 Then pretty much planned my way to Santiago by next Friday. 3 - 30ish km days but it should be good, 😬🤞 been lazy for a bit but have what it takes. It was a different stretch to plan, either that or I just was not seeing it. I expected many more and larger albergues as it it where several paths merge and also were people can start to get the final 100k and their completion certificate.Read more

A pretty good 🆙 this morning.
A little preoccupied today with getting to the end/finding space after my longer upcoming days. I am insecure when I know that I will get in later and not def have a reserved space. I thought it was getting crowded again becase some of the call’s I made, everything was booked. But showed up in my albergue tonight (which you can’t reserve) an it looks like I’m the only one here 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️… but I do think I have it all figured to Santiago.Read more

Happy Easter! A long 35km today, the last 2/3 really nasty narrow busy pavement. This is the 100k point. A rest Day tomorrow, but this is the home stretch, from here on need 2 stamps a day minimum to get my certificate at the end. Officially you only need to have 100km… so the other 900 was just extra credit. 🤣 Have 3 really grueling walking days ahead.Read more

    Visit the Cathedral, couldn’t talle
Photos inside and no god distant views on the outside for photos. Also spent the afternoon at some hot springs, there were several along the river but went to a more developed one… also couldn’t take photos 🤷‍♂️ Oh well, a good rest day. Not my favorite city, some old buildings but no real historic town center feel.Read more

    April 12, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 50 °F

A early and wet start, only the second really rainy day in 48, so not bad, I quess.
Got followed out by this older Spanish guy, in the dark, in the rain, up a step rocky trail, only to find out he didn’t have any kind of light. 🤦‍♂️ehh. I was furious! Is all about self-reliance, being able to take care of yourself. In my opinion is was a stupid, idiotic, dangerous thing to do. By the time I realized it had no choice but to help him through it for the next hour and a half or so. Then did everything I could to keep my distance. Apparently he make it this far from Sevilla, but I’m no sure how.
I hope that dosen’t sound cold. When I stay ‘self reliance’ I think about the lessons you learn before going to Burning Man. Everyone is very generous there , but you are expected to have everything you need to survive in a harsh environment.
The hotel Pazo de Bendoiro is AMAZING , a real treat. Spent some time in the Jacuzzi tub. It’s a converted old bldg, part was a church
