Today was some free walking tour and self exploring going on.
Cant belief how many people here are. And this is offseason.
Well, still quite amazing.
First: the most famous crossing in the world: Shibuya
Second: most famous street in JP: Takeshita Street
3rd: entrance to Meiji Park
4th: entrence to temple within the park

Arrived today in Kawaguchiko and wanted to do a small run to a „waterfall“, but the sun set really fast and suddenly it was really dark.😅
But made it home safely.

4 Peaks trail run

Fucking hell. That was so hard. Can‘t imagine running twice as long with double elevation gain next week.🫣
At least i saw Mt. Fuji. Still not really clear view, but i am not complaining, considering the fog is crazy here.
Four peaks climbed in that order:
Mt. Fukomayama or Fuhōzan 1562m
Mt. Nkattou: 1665m
Mt. Hafusan: 1674m
Mt. Kurodake: 1792m

When i started my day in Fujikawaguchiko Mt. Fuji was really generous.🙏 Finally a good picture.

And an my way to Takayama we briefly stopped here for a natural break. So i had some exceptionally good noodles in the restaurant. Also this dam in the valley looks quite magnificent. But i forgot to take a picture of the dam itself, lol.Meer informatie

Today i explored the old town and some shrines in the city. Followed by a little run in the mountains. I almost got lost since i lost track but found it later on again. Ooopsi. Afterwards i went to the onsen in my hotel, which i really enjoyed. It was outside and absolutely amazing (and well deserved😄)Meer informatie

I figured i missed some (some would say the most important and beautiful) shrines when exploring Takayama. So i really had to do that today. Problem was, in the morning i actually wanted to check out the old traditional folk village. Soooo i got up at 6:30 and just ran to the shrines (which were indeed amazing) and the old castle (which was just a wall🗿)

In the end i made it also to the folk village in time so i can now continue the journey go KanazwaMeer informatie

Definitely recommend coming here. This city has it all. From busy shopping malls to a green garden with teahouse in like 5 min. Bars, ocean, castles.
And of course a Samurai district, Geisha shows and Ninja temples.😄
Just… wow

Whole day was a big sightseeingtour.
In the morning Dotonbari by day. All the shops where just about to be opened. But still i could feel the energy in this place.
After that i went to Osaka castle.

I had the cutest interaction with some junior high schoolers. They asked me some questions and as a return i received this origami.

I felt drained so i went for a run to reload my batteries.

In the night i went on a pubcrawl again in Dotonbari. At night this district hits different.Meer informatie

The night before wasn‘t too bad so i got up early and went to Nara.

Famos for the big buddah (the biggest bronze statue in the world) located in the biggest building made out of wood.
Pretty impressive if you think this is more than 3-400 years old.

Nara‘s also famous for the deer that is supercuts and bows when you treat them with some ricecracker. Or even before because they think if they bow you‘d give them some.😄Meer informatie

Mt. Inari & Kiyomizu-Amidado
One of the most famous places in Japan i think. Yeah its stunning, but its also just orange gates. Most of the people dont actually valuete these sacred places… the crowds where absolutely insane. I really did not like that too much.
Maybe you can see that in my face, lol.

I was on my way to the bamboo forrest, which was even more crowded😅.

But i got a little lost and found this gem:
Daihikaku Senkō-ji shrine.

Absolutely stunning. In total there where like 5 people. One monk, one guy that worked there and two other people. This one i liked a lot.

So after Osaka i went to Hiroshima. I had some time till sunset so i went to the peace memorial park. You can really feel what happened here.

The atmosphere in this place is so incredibly moving.

Miyajima Island

By chance i went to Miyajima island. After taking the ferry i could already tell. Crowded af. But nevertheless i went and was not disappointed. Despite the masses of tourists i had a good day, since i went to (what else) a shrine on top of a mountain. I did so by taking a lift and the views again - stunnin.
It was also quite fun, bc to get to the top, you‘d still had to climb like 250m. I guess not everyone knew that and i saw people with high-heels and people that would not really make it there because of other reasons.😅
The disputes i overheard were pure comedy gold. Women shouting at their men like: „all this fucking walking!! You never get to choose the next destination ever again!!!“Meer informatie

The last day of Hiroshima i went to the Museum. I have no words to describe the feeling it was giving. Extremely moving and heartbreaking i guess.

Fukuoka is famous for its Yatai. In this city alone are more then 3x times of those foodstalls as in all of Japan combined. Unfortunately not so vegan (or even vegetarian friendly (as all of Japan😅)

Still it was a cool vibe near the river.

The day i arrived at Kagoshima i went up the city-hill where you have a good view of the still active volcano: Sakurajima. The city itself is much less busy than the cities i‘ve been before, but not like quiete. Lots of bars an Izakayas could to be found and with the still warm weather and palm trees it felt like „vacation“😄Meer informatie

Today i ran around the volcano which was really cool bc i had quite a good view from every angle. And of course it looked different from every direction i looked.

There were also some witnesses of former eruptions eg. the half sunken Torii gate which is burried in chilled lava.

After the 50k my feed deserved a good relaxing bath in a geothermal hot-tub with a view.Meer informatie

After the Ultra i had some energy left and went for the place were industrialization in Japan originated.

The Samurai noticed that they cannot keep up with the advanced warfare (like canons, battleships, etc.) from Europe, so they tried it here with their on methods.

You could still feel they kinda felt uncomfortable since tradition also had a big part in this building complex.

Still they managed somehow with help from volunteers and experts from Europe.

The day after i arrived i went to Team Labs: Planets. Absolutely amazing what some (digital) artists are able to do.
Surreal experience, bin absolutely worth it. (But little crowded as you can tell.😀).

After that i went to some pub crawl with karaoke at the end.
Have taught those lads some good old 99 Luftballons and everyone was super impressed lol. And no will not share the video.😄Meer informatie

On the next day i just did some shopping and an anime tour through a really local district (Nakano).
I liked it a lot since it was not too crowded as the rest of this city and only visited by locals which was really nice. Bought some stuff there and in the evening i went for a quick shakeout/sightseeing run.
