Getting lost in Rome!

First day in Rome! After a 3 hour-delay in Montreal last night (planes grounded due to weather conditions) we finally made it! We spent the late afternoon and evening getting lost in Rome! We are in love!

We shared a delicious plate of fettuccini, sitting on the terrace, read literally in the street!, of a quaint little restaurant.

At the end of a typical little street we noticed what looked like the Colosseum! Sure enough that’s what it was! A mere 10-minute walk from our hotel!
We stumbled upon the Trevi Fountain much in the same way! It was crowded but who could tell from these epic pictures!!!

Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps and more!

The day wasn’t all about our Vespa tour!
We walked plenty and came across such beautiful and quaint little corners.
Some are well known, like the Piazza Navona and Spanish Steps, while other we literally stumbled across in our quest to find the Duck Store!
So much to see everywhere!

What a day!
I surprised the girls with a Vespa tour of Rome today!
What an experience!
We had the best guide who gave us a great history lesson as well!
A definite highlight!

Trevi Fountain… very early!

Up at 6:15 to be at the Trevi Fountain at 7:00!
Why? Because it is so crowded that it’s the perfect time to get those close up shots!
And you know us girls!!!!
It was soooo worth it though!

We saw the sea!
It’s everywhere around us!
Thoroughly enjoying seeing the excitement and the disbelief in the girls’ eyes at the realization of being here!
We had such a lovely late lunch by the beach.

Roma to the Almalfi Coast!

On the high speed train between Roma and Napoli on our way to Meta (Sorento)!
The girls found out a few minutes ago that we are not going to Florence yet but rather to the Amalfi Coast!
Best surprise ever!
Bonus: They’ll get to wear their new bikinis from Rome!!!

Sorrento!

Today was all about getting the Italian Riviera vibe!
We spent the day in beautiful and colorful Sorrento!
So much to see!
Linens and lemons everywhere!
Fun fact! Broken train on the way back so it was jam packed! Hard to get out at our station despite Charlotte excusing herself in Italian. So I got my best « Québécois » out, swear word included, to shut a few Italians up! Sure worked! The look on their faces when they realized the girls we not travelling alone! Priceless!!!Read more

Beach day at Lido Marinella!

We spent eight hours at the beach!!!
We sunbathed, swam in the Mediterranean Sea, ate an amazing lunch of prawns and tuna tartar on the beach!
La vita è bella!!!!
TravelerQuelle belle récompense aujourd’hui! Le repos à la plage 🏝️. Après tous ces jours de marche, vous avez sûrement dû en profiter. Tes grandes devaient être contentes de cette petite pause.

TravelerEn effet la pause était bien méritée et appréciée par toutes! Rome est bâtie sur sept collines et la Côte Amalfitaine est à flanc de montagne donc non seulement nous marchons beaucoup mais tout est pentes et escaliers!

Getting lost in Pompeii… literally!

After our worst train ride ever where the three of us almost passed out one after the other (not kidding!!!) we made it to Pompeii!
Almost surreal to think what when on there years and years ago!
And entire city covered in volcanic ashes and preserved so well! We even got to see two mummified bodies!
Don’t be fooled by the white cloudy sky.
The UV index was « extreme » at 11 and the heat was on!!!!Read more
TravelerComme ça me rappelle des souvenirs ! J’ai vraiment apprécié ma visite de cet endroit plein d’histoires. Les filles ne retourneront pas la tête vide à la maison. C’est tout un cours d’histoire qu’elles ont la chance de vivre. C’est merveilleux 😊

Ok! We were on a mission today to make Napoli look good despite the bad reviews.
Well… it wasn’t from lack of effort on our part but it is a filthy city filled with graffiti, amongst other things.
But! Can we talk about the pizza though! It was worth the train ride on its own!

We got here in the middle of the afternoon and as soon as we were settled in our room we went out to explore!
Such a beautiful city!!!
We all love the vibe here!

Despite the sky looking rather menacing and thunder being heard very close, we visited the Boboli Gardens.

Now! We have been so used to walking up hills and climbing stairs after visiting Rome and the Amalfi Coast that we needed a little challenge!
Up we went 414 steps to make it to the top of was is known as Bell’s Tower.
The views of Florence and part of Tuscany were worth the effort to make it to the top!

We took a pizza and gelato cooking lesson!
We made our own pizza dough from scratch!!!
