We arrived at the resort after a slightly delayed but nice flight.
The airport at Rio Hato only welcomes flights from West Jet and Air Transat.
So the crowd in mainly Canadian and from the countries around Panama.
The resort is very nice. Our room is particularly spacey. We have a huge balcony with a view to the sea.
Very confortable bed as well!
I found a window similar to the one in Tunisia with a beautiful view!!
Although we were greeted with rain at our arrival we still got our first beautiful sunset of the week!Read more

Quiet day at the beach!

Juju and I started our first day in Panama with an early run on the beach!
It was soooo difficult!!
But we did it!!!

We spent the rest of the day exploring the resort and enjoying the beach!
The food is excellent!

The girls enjoyed jet skying in the afternoon (let’s forget that we all got scammed in the end… Lesson learned to book with the hotel from now on!!!)!Read more

Full day of excursion!

It was en early wake up call at 5:45 so we could leave early to go explore the jungle and Panama City!
One of the perks of waking up early is the privilege to see amazing sunrises!

Monkey Islands!

We left Rio Hato to make our way to the jungle!
To get there we crossed the Puente de Las Americas, the bridge that goes from side of the Panama Canal, at its narrowest point, to the other.
The rain season has just ended in Panama so nature is lush! The flora is so diverse and amazing here!
But nothing can compare with the privilege to see monkeys in the wild!
From a boat we got to see capucin monkeys, howler monkeys and ouistites! What an experience!
During our visit we also saw a baby crocodile, turtles and caimans!
You are going to have to pay close attention if you want to spot the baby crocodile chilling on a branch in the water!! Same with the caimans in their bed of leaves!!Read more

Sloth Sanctuary and more!

After Monkey Islands we stayed in the region of Gamboa to ho visit a sloth sanctuary.
Since 2005, more than 3500 sloths have been rescued at the sanctuary. Some were able to make it back in the wild but some did not succeed and therefore stay at the sanctuary for life.
While we were there we also got to see butterflies (« Panama » means « abondance of butterflies and fish) and mini venomous frogs! The little buggers look so cute though!!!
Indigenous people used to extract their poison to add it to arrows to kill their preys. Quite ingenious!Read more

Panama City!

Wow!!!
What an AMAZING city!!!!
Before exploring we stopped for a nice typical lunch at a restaurant just outside the city but with a great view of the outline from the board walk.
The modern part of the city is often referred to as the mini Dubai and it really deserves its knick name!
The old part is colorful and vibrant!
I am definitely coming back here in the near future if only to run along the boardwalk with an amazing view of all the buildings!

Today we set out to explore a little bit more of Panama!
We headed toward the Anton Valley.
There is an entire village built in the crater of an extinguished volcano.
We got to admire some amazing vistas as well as swim in a natural pool of fresh water.

We had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before exploring the local market where many artists where creating right under our eyes!!!

Ending the year strong!

The last day of 2025 was a fun and active one for all of us!!!
Jet ski and tubing!
3.1 km run on the beach (for the 31st of the month)!

New Year’s Eve in Panama!

The resort really went all out to make the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026 memorable!

First day of 2026 in Panama!
January 1 in Panama ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C
It was a quiet beach day… until it wasn’t anymore!!!
Juliette and I walked 4 km on the beach in the morning.
We all soaked in the last rays of sunshine and enjoyed all the Panamanian heat for our last full day before heading back to our cold Winter.
