    Progresso

    February 18 in Mexico ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

The best laid plans ...we woke up early in Izamal, packed our bags and planned to head to the town square to eat an early breakfast and explore some more. We walked outside and it was drizzling, by the time we reached the square the rain had set in and not much was open so we decided to continue on to Progresso our beach destination!! We reached Progresso and a storm was brewing! We ate breakfast and watched staff from beachfront restaurants move their chairs from the beach indoors ...hopes of it blowing over quickly faded. We checked into our hotel...which is proof you can't believe everything you see on the internet...the photos must have been taken a very long time ago! We managed a small explore including some cool dinosaurs before the weather got even worse. The Malecon (foreshore) is impressive and I can only imagine how beautiful it is on a sunny day! Progreso also has the longest pier in the world (popular destination for cruise ships), too misty for a photo. The win of the day was discovering the previous occupants of our room had left Netflix logged in so we chilled with some movies and snacks for the arvo! Hoping to wake up tomorrow to brilliant weather and a surprise trip for Rowyn!Read more
