Angels and Demon tour

Today we woke up early and went to Piazza del Popolo, which means the square of the people. We met up with our tour guide Enzo, we were there for an Angels and Demons tour which went to places in the book (by Dan Brown) and movie.

The first stop was at a church called Basilica Parrocchiale di Santa Maria Del Popolo. Unfortunately it was closed for renovations so we could not go inside. He talked about the church we were at and how it was linked in with the movie. For people reading this blog who have read/seen Angels and Demons it is where the first Cardinal was killed with earth.

We then got onto a bus and went to a different country. We arrived in Saint Peters Square which is in The Vatican City. Vatican is the smallest country in the world. It is only 49 hectares. It is where the Pope lives. He is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. By a crazy coinkidink (coincidence for you commoners) it was Wednesday which is when the Pope comes out for meet and greet. It was chockers. We saw the Pope on the big TV screen and managed to catch a glimpse of him from a distance. Saint Peters Square is where the second Cardinal was killed by air.

We then went to Chiesa Di Santa Maria Della Vittoria by bus. In Italy there are basically no road rules. You do not have to stop for people at zebra crossings and as our guide joked the signs are like suggestions. In Italy I get really scared crossing roads.
At the church we saw a statue by Bernini. It is called the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa. It is where the third Cardinal was killed by fire. Unfortunately Mama and I were not feeling very well so we had to leave the tour early.

We went to a very nice restaurant called Da Cesare where I had a very good lasagna.

I am really struggling with the heat and crowds but it is still amazing.

Tomorrow we go to the Colosseum.
