Ouwehands Zoo

Today I went to the zoo with Papa.

It is called Ouwehands Dierenpark. It translates as old hands animal park.

Because it is close to where Oma and Opa live, we have been there before. It's in the city of Rhenen where my Papa was born and lived for the first 11 years of his life.

It has a really cool Giant Panda enclosure called Pandasia. It is in a big Chinese temple. They have bamboo, trees, pathways, and lots of play things. There are two Pandas in Ouwehands. One of them was fed up with life, and the other was nowhere to be seen.

We then went into the Berenbos, which translates as bear forest. You could climb in a rope cage thing and under you there were all the bears. Do not worry, it was really safe.

We then went to see the elephants. One of them was trying to break a door down, because he knew that food was inside.

Next we saw the penguins. There is a tunnel you can go into and stick your head out into a plastic dome. Unfortunately the plastic was really dirty so you could not see out very well.
At the penguins you could get really close to them. We got so close that one tried to eat my shirt.

It was starting to rain so we headed back home.
