    Departure

    We left today for the 4 month trip around the world. We left our chickens and house in Mama's colleague David's hands. Our friend Katie drove us to Canberra airport to fly to Fiji. She took us in her new Tesla. Fiji is a island in the Asia Pacific and is part of the Commonwealth, like Australia. Its capital is called Suva. After the flight we had to take a two hour bus trip to the Warwick Resort. During the first part of the bus ride a baby would not stop crying.

    Warwick Resort and Spa Fiji

    Bula! Today was the second day of the trip, but the first full day. We had a breakfast buffet with bacon and chocolate muffins. Then we got led around the resort by a nice Fijian man named Tony. After that we went for a swim in the pool. The water wasn't very cold but was still great for cooling down from the warm Fijian sun. Papa decided that he loved hermit crabs and held two. We also had to change rooms twice. The original room was nice but the beds were to small and the shower door was broken. The second room was great.... But the air-conditioning was broken. Now we are in the last room where we will hopefully stay. If you are in Fiji the people will wave to you, so you should say Bula and Vinaka at them. Bula means hello and Vinaka means thank you.

    Day 3

    Today we went on a glass bottom boat tour from a pier in our resort. We saw lots of colourful fish swimming through the coral and fed them with bread that the tour guide had given us. We went over trenches that were over fifty meters deep but you could still see the bottom because the water is so clear. Unfortunately we saw no turtles. When we got back to the resort we got a coconut for 5 Fijian dollars, which is around 3.30 AUD, and drank the juice. After that we went into the pool. We swam for around an hour then it started to rain. We waited out the rain in the pool. When we got out I went to look at some necklaces when my foot throbbed. I had been stung by a bee! This was the first time I had ever been stung, and it wasn't very fun. Once we got the stinger out we put ice on it. We then went to the games room and did some darts and pool.

    Tuvu, Fiji

    Today we went on the Sigotoka River Safari. We rode in a bus for around half an hour. We got off at our first stop, a gift shop/tourist trap. I bought a shirt that said Fiji Weather Station. It takes different conditions and makes them funny. For example, rainy... coconut wet, sunny... coconut dry, and the funniest one is cyclone... coconut gone. After we bought stuff and went to the toilet, we got back on the bus and rode for another half hour. We then arrived at the destination, where we put on life-jackets and got in a speed-boat. We rode for about ten minutes, when we stopped, our guide told us about the cliff we had stopped at and how it had the best marble in the world but they would never sell it. He also told us that kids had to swim to school and how they put their stuff on a bit of bamboo that was cut to about six meters that they hold above their heads. We had some more stops like this till we got to a village (Tuvu). We climbed up to it and went inside for prayers and prepared some kind of drink called Kava. Kava is a ceremonial drink made from the Kava root. Unfortunately I was really overwhelmed by the heat, my sore foot where the bee had stung me yesterday, so I had to wait outside with Mama. After we had food it was time to go back to the boat which took us to the dock where we got back on the bus. When we got back we had to get straight into the pool because we were so hot. After we cooled down we had some ice cream.
    Today from our guide we learned that Fiji has the only currency in the world to have a $7 note. In the Olympics of 2016 and 2020, Fiji won gold in the rugby sevens, so they made a special $7 note to celebrate but they only made 2 million of them. So far they are the only ones to have won rugby in the Olympics because it was only added in 2016. We could not find a real one so we googled it and put a photo here for you to see.

    The Warwick, Fiji

    Today we basically had a nothing day. We went snorkeling at the beach. While we were snorkeling we saw some colourful fish as well as crazy ones that tried to eat us. Papa found them first but he said it was only one, but when Mama and I went there, there were heaps. Mama started screaming because they were head-butting us. Papa also went to look for hermit crabs. We then went into the pool and had ice cream. Papa had a massage so we waited by the pool. For dinner we had teppanyaki, where we sat next to a hot plate and had our food made in front of us. Mama and I had teriyaki chicken with rice while Papa had tuna. After eating that we were supposed to watch the crab race but I wanted to go to sleep. So Papa went by himself.

    Warwick Fiji

    Today was another amazing nothing day. We went snorkeling again and Papa and I did some stand-up paddleboarding. I only fell over once but I landed on the board. I also jumped in twice for fun. Then we went to the pool where we met up with some nice people from Wellington, NZ, called Lisa and Maria. We had some drinks with them and then they surprised us by paying for them. While we were having drinks it started to rain. Why does it always rain when we're in the pool? After in stopped raining we went back to the room. Mama soon left to get a massage. Papa and Mama went to dinner and I got abandoned with a nanny. :) The nanny and I played pool and darts. After a while the nanny sat down and a nice man started playing with me. PS Fijians are REALLY good at pool. After dinner we reunited with Mama and Papa and went to see a Fijian dance. The dance was really cool but also a bit weird. At one point it looked like they were looking through letters. And at one point they jumped into the crowd and yelled at us. Tomorrow we leave for San Francisco.

    Saturday was our last day in Fiji. It was much cooler and raining nearly all day. We played in the pool with some kids from Wagga Wagga, their names where Bonnie, Jack, Lucy, and Lachlan, and their parents' names were Tara and Steve, and I taught Lachlan how to play Pokémon Go. Then after a nine hour flight we got off the plane from Fiji to San Francisco, which is a city in California, which is a state in the USA. We picked up our hire car and drove 35mins to our hotel which is in Oakland. We had some dinner, showers and then much needed sleep. We time-traveled on the plane because we crossed the international date border. When we left Fiji it was 10:30PM on Saturday but when we got to San Francisco it was 1:30PM on Saturday! I also had my first ever Dr Pepper. I thought it tasted a bit like medicine. Today we went to the underground which is called the BART system. We got on at Lake Meritt station where there were a group of people playing a game called shuttlecock. It was played using a modified shuttlecock that had a bigger weighted bottom. It was played a bit like keepy uppy but with your feet. At first I was just watching, and then they kicked it at me. I tried to kick it back but I missed. After a while I got into the swing of things. But we had to go so we got on the train and went into Downtown San Francisco. We went on a cable tram that took us up a tall hill and down again to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. We got off and looked at the shops there. It was really cold on the waterfront and Mama bought a beanie with a frog on it to keep her ears warm. For lunch, Papa had a clam chowder cob, I had a bit of sourdough shaped like a turtle. Mama had a Hot Dog. We found lots of sea lions. They smelled really bad and were going ARRF! ARRF! ARRF! ARRF! In case you didn't know the difference between a seal and a sea lion is that while seals have ear holes, sea lions have ear flaps. On the way back we wanted to ride in the cable car again but the line was really long. So instead we had to walk up the big hill. At the top there was a really nice ice cream shop. I had choc-chip cookie dough and Papa had rocky-road. After that we got on a cable bus that took us to a shopping area that had a big Westfield. Inside the Westfield they had escalators that curved around!! We had dinner at a place called Mel's Drive-In. I had a burger that arrived in a purple car shaped boxed and a milkshake called the Penguin. It had whipped cream, marshmallows, and chocolate in it. We took the BART back to Lake Meritt where we had parked the car and drove back to the hotel. We are now watching Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 2 on TV.

    San Francisco

    Today we went to the Golden Gate Bridge. We walked halfway across, but Papa chickened out, so we had to go back. He was nervous that we would fall down into the cold, shark-infested water. Though we didn't see any sharks, it was the same water body as Alcatraz. Alcatraz was notoriously unescapable because it was a jail on an island surrounded by cold water with sharks in it. We found out that to cross the bridge, you had to pay a toll. If you did not have any money, you could leave one of your things behind as a IOU. Some of the weirdest things were, a guitar, a pair of false teeth, a pearl, a toupee, and 4 cans of lima beans. There were also lots of animal encounters on the bridge, like an ostrich, a pelican, some monkeys, and a whale called Humphrey who took a wrong turn. His story is as follows. A whale called Humphrey took a wrong turn. He went up a river in 1985, and got stuck. Some people had to come save him. They used lots of different ideas but nothing worked. Then a marine scientist gave the idea that they could play whale feeding sounds. And it worked! Humphrey followed the sounds back out to the sea. His 3 week mistake was over! 5 Years later he did it again, this time getting stuck on some mud flaps 200 feet from the beach. His human helpers saved him again. Silly Humphrey! The bridge is international orange because that was the colour of the primer, which is an undercoat paint that protects the metal. We then went on a scenic drive to the Muir Woods where there were lots of Red Wood trees. Red Woods are only found in California, Oregon and New Zealand. They are the biggest trees in the world. I did some activities and earned a Junior Ranger Badge. Before I got the badge I had to take an oath. It was stuff like "I will keep learning, helping nature and stay curious." We then went back to the Hotel California and went to sleep.

    Driving from San Francisco to Fort Bragg

    Today was a bit boring for me. We drove and drove and drove along a coastal road. Then we drove some more, then a bit more. On the drive we stopped a few times. I bought/Mama bought for me, some chocolate rocks, except they were sea shells. We also saw a killer seagull and a cheeky gopher. We then got to a place called Fort Bragg. We went on a walk along a bridge to a glass beach. There was lots of sea glass because it was once a dump, with the ocean waves of many decades breaking down and smoothing the glass. But now people had taken some home so there was not much left. We then walked back and went to sleep.

    Driving from Fort Bragg to Crescent City

    Today we drove again. We went to a place called Leggett and drove through an incredibly large redwood tree, called the Chandelier Tree which is 2400 years old. I saw big foot lurking in the trees. We then stayed at a place called Crescent city, which we found out is the tsunami capital of the world. We kept passing these signs that said "entering tsunami hazard zone." We went to the hotel and went to bed.

    From Crescent City to Portland, Oregon

    Today we drove again. Today was a really big driving day. We had Taco Bell for the first time. I had a grilled cheese burrito, Mama had a chicken quesadilla, and Papa had a spicy burrito. Papa and I also shared a dragon fruit slushy. We all had a nacho flavoured fries. When we left Taco Bell, we got onto the highway. On the highway we saw snowcapped volcanos. At around 8pm we got to Portland. We tried to get sit down dinner but everything was closed, so we had chicken nuggets from MacDonalds.
    When we got back to the hotel, I posted a letter to Bungendore High School using the hotel's fancy letter chute.

    Portland, Oregon

    Today we explored Portland. We tried to get tickets to the tram but it would not take our credit card. So we went to the tourist help place and a nice man called Dez came and helped us. He took us to a other ticket machine which worked. We then had brunch at a place called Cheryl's went to a bookshop called Powell's City of Books, which is the biggest bookshop in the world. It sells new and used books. We bought 2 books. We then got on the tram, to take us to an 'Aerial Tram' . It took us up over the city and to a hospital. We got food at the hospital then went back. We then went to a rose garden but the roses were not out. We got back on the tram and went to a place called Mucca which sold pizza. After dinner I had a gelato, which was really nice. We then went back to the hotel and went to sleep.

    Portland, Oregon to Seattle, Washington

    Today while we were driving along the highway we saw lots of volcanos. They were all snow capped. When we got to Seattle we had to say goodbye to our rental car. We took a uber from the rental place at the airport which was called SEA-TAC, which stands for Seattle Tacoma, to our hotel, The Maxwell which is pineapple themed. They had pineapple water bottles, cookies, dogs, and toilet paper! I then started watching The 3 Stooges, in which the Stooges were being Indians and a hunter married one of them, and The Unexplained Files, which was all about weird stuff like aliens, other earths and killer space-suits.     The Baseball Experience

    Today we went to a baseball game, The Seattle Mariners VS The Oakland Athletics. On the way there we met a lady called Marianne who told us about the team so we chose to go for the Mariners. At the gates I asked a man where he got something and then the kind man gave me the inflatable trident, the team logo and I bought a giant foam finger. At around the third inning we had some photos with the team mascot, The Mariners Moose. There were lots of home runs and outs, and there were lots of breaks with funny things in them like Go Fish, which was a race between people in fish costumes, and a boat race. Towards the end it got really tense, but the final score was 8-4 to Seattle. We had won! We were leaving when I started talking to a guard. I told him that it was my first game ever, he asked if we got a certificate. He showed us that we could get a certificate saying it was my first game. We got it printed and another guard gave me some baseball cards. After that we went onto the tram that took us back to the Maxwell. I really liked my first baseball game and am really looking forward to Wednesday when we get to go to a other game.

    Pike pier market

    Today we went to the Pike Pier Market. We had a slow start but we ended up having a good day. First we had to go on a little walk to get to a monorail, at a park. The park had a Labyrinth which I did, and some climbing stuff, and a big slide. When we got onto the monorail we found out that it went really fast. We then had to walk to the market. Along the way we found a shop that was purple themed, which was called The Purple Store. After we looked in there, we went to a fish and chip shop. It had the best tomato sauce I've ever had. It had roasted onions in it. We then walked along the market. After we walked the market, we went to a Target shop. It had one of the coolest things ever, an escalator for shopping trollies! You had to push it through a gate and then a ski lift took it up! After target, we went back to the market and bought some giant prawns. On the way there we saw some people throwing a fish around. We tried to have another look around the market, but everything was basically closed. So we headed back to the hotel. We had to wait forty five minutes in the cold for a bus!

    Space needle and Bainbridge island

    Today we went to the Space Needle. It was really clear so you could see a long way. We got tickets and went up the lift which took 43 seconds. When we got to the top we had an amazing view. On the way around the building there is a lot of information about how and when it was built. We found out that it was built for the Seattle World's Fair of 1962. It took 400 days to construct. It was completed in December 1961, and opened in April 1962. By July 1962 they had already welcomed their one millionth visitor!!
    There were sloped benches that you could stand on and lean back. But don't worry, they were in front of very thick glass. We went down some stairs and into a revolving room. It had a glass bottom, and slowly spun. I tried to do a really cool hyperlapse video but it didn't really turn out like what I wanted. There were several places around the observation desk to have free souvenir photos taken.
    After lunch we caught a ferry to Bainbridge island. The ferry was huge and was 3 stories tall with cars underneath. We sat at the very front where there were lots of seats inside behind glass so you still had a good view. I sat in the very front row. Mama and Papa were standing out on the front of the ferry taking photos awesome view of Seattle. The crossing took around 45mins. On the island we walked up the main road. It had lots of little shops. We discovered that Bainbridge Island is the birthplace of Pickleball. Pickleball is game like tennis and squash. We had some Teriyaki chicken for an early dinner and then caught the ferry back to Seattle and headed back to The Maxwell.

    Baseball game 2. Mariners VS Kansas City

    Baseball time again! Today our home team played the Kansas City Royals. We saw lots of good plays, and a home run. We also saw a lot of sneaking. We thought that we had lost because we made a silly mistake. After a really tight and nerve-racking game, we won by two runs! The final score was 4-2 to us. When we got back to the Maxwell, we had to start packing because we leave the US tomorrow, taking a train to Vancouver, Canada.

    Today was a disappointment. We were supposed to go on "one of the best train rides in the world." I did not really notice because I was on my Nintendo Switch playing Pokémon Violet. On the way though we saw a seal, and our first bald eagle!! But what I heard from Mama and Papa, let's just say they were not singing praises of the train ride. Now we are in Vancouver, Canada. There was an important ice hockey game in town, bringing in lots of crazy fans. It was a NHL play-off game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers. Vancouver Canucks won!

    Today we moved to our apartment in Richmond, which is a suburb of Vancouver in the province of British Columbia in Canada. We are well positioned because we are next to a big shopping mall. We went shopping and had our hair cut. We went to Walmart because I had a sofa bed that was really uncomfortable, so we had to get a mattress topper.

    Vancouver

    Today we went to go see Mama's cousin Thomas. He is also my second cousin. We rode on the metro which was called Transit. It was like a Roller-coaster. It went really fast and went above, and below ground. When we met up with Thomas at the Water Front Station, we went to a cafe. On the way we saw a steam clock. It had the wrong time, but every hour it went PARP PARP PARP PARP. I had a lasagna and a milkshake at the spaghetti factory. On the way back I had a donut. It was called the Go Canucks donut. We did this cool VR thing that was called Fly Over Canada. We did it twice. The first one was with Thomas, but we flew over Iceland! For the VR you sat in a chair that moves around like a plane, and the screen in front of us showed a movie. We then had to say goodbye to Thomas Thistlethwaite. He had to go home to watch the Canucks hockey game with friends. We thought it would be nice to see him again on Wednesday. When he left, we did the VR thing again, and this time we flew over the Canadian Rockies. Czytaj więcej

    Today we drove a lot, roughly 4 hours. First we drove to a place in British Columbia called Squamish. We stopped at the information center there and had some muffins. They were really nice but Mama did not like hers, so I ate hers too.
    We then went to a site from a show Mama and Papa watch called Virgin River. In case you watch the show, it was the location of Jack's Bar.
    Squamish has a place called Brackendale which is the Bald Eagle capital of the world. If you are there in the right season (winter), the skies and river beds would be full of them. Unfortunately we only saw one because it is the wrong season. There was a lot of information to read and we found out that female bald eagles have a 1m height and that eagles have 3 eyelids. Their talons are made of Keratin, which is the same stuff that our hair is made of, as well as rhino horns!
    We then drove to Whistler, which is in the Rockie Mountains. It was the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Although Vancouver was the host city, most of the mountain sports were done at Whistler, a famous ski resort. We had lunch at the All Seasons grill, and then walked around Whistler looking at the sights whilst catching Pokémon because it was a community day. In a community day there are lots of one type of Pokémon that spawn and there is a 1 in 25 chance of it being shiny. Shiny Pokémon are different colours to the normal ones and have sparkles! I caught 8 shinys, Mama caught 5, and Papa caught 3.
    We started to head back, we stopped at a few viewing points to take some photos. We stopped and did a walk to the Brandywine falls, which are some waterfalls that looked really cool and serene.
    On the way back we were on the constant look out for bears, and Papa is really sad that we did not see any. He is also very sad about the lack of Bald Eagles.
    On the drive back, we got stuck in lots of traffic. It took us ages to get back home.

    Stanley Park, Vancouver

    Today it was a public holiday called Victoria Day in celebration of the birth of Queen Victoria because Canada is also part of the Commonwealth. Because it was a public holiday, there were lots of people at Stanley Park, our preplanned destination for today. Stanley Park is over 1000 acres of densely forested land in the city. It has Coyotes, Racoons, Beavers, Eagles, Herons, Seals, Squirrels, and lots of people on bikes. We saw Eagles, Herons, Squirrels and maybe kinda a seal. It was really amazing to have such a cool forest in a city. We went and saw these totem poles, that honoured the native Canadian people. We then went to get lunch at the Stanley's Bar and Grill. There I had a hot dog, Papa had a Poutine, the national dish of Canada, and Mama had honey garlic chicken wings. We then walked around Beaver Lake whilst doing a Pokémon route. Unfortunately we saw no beavers :(, but we did see a lot of squirrels. There were heaps of them! There were sooooo many they nearly ran up my legs! There are three types of squirrels in Stanley Park, the Eastern Grey, the Douglas, and the Northern Flying. We saw all three in one place living not so happily together. We also saw lots of cool birds, and two landed on my hands! We saw some little ones and a big one called a Stellar Jay. It was black and blue, and looked awesome. There were two of them and they were hanging out with the squirrels. When we headed back to the car, we had an amazing encounter with two bald Eagles. They flew down to the trees next to our hire car. I saw them first, and pointed them out too Mama and Papa. They were so big that they nearly got stuck in between the trees.     My burger

    Today we split up. Papa went on a whale tour, and Mama and I stayed home and packed. At 12:00 we went shopping for clothes and stuff like that. We had lunch at a place that claimed to be legendary called the White Spot. It was okay. My burger came in a pirate ship with a chocolate coin. When we got home, we watched A Wrinkle In Time. It was okay. When Papa came home, he was a bit disappointed that he only saw Humpback Whales, not Orcas. He says the weather on the water was beautiful.
    Tomorrow we fly to London.

    We flew from Vancouver to London on a British Airways flight in an old Boeing 777. The flight was kind of boring for Mama and Papa, but not for me, I had my Nintendo Switch! The flight was around 10 hours long. I played for a while, then went to sleep. I got to lie down because we got two rows, one of three, one of four. When I woke up, there was still about 3 hours left, so I watched tv, then went on the switch. Before we boarded the flight, I met the pilots, and introduced myself. When we landed in London, I got invited to the cockpit to see the pilots. They were really nice to me. They took some photos with us. When we got out of the airport, we took an Uber and went to our hotel called the Premier Inn at Paddington. After a little siesta, we had a walk about the area. We found out that it was a great area, and is close to lots of important places. We had dinner at Pizza Express and then went to sleep.
