Blackpool Tower

On arriving into Blackpool and it being too early to check in to our hotel, we got the tram down towards the Tower and popped into the nearby The Albert and The Lion for a drink. This pub located next door to the Blackpool Tower complex made a great first stop in the town with the sun beating through it's big windows looking out into the sea. A welcoming place to start the visit.

Then the Tower itself then. First we had the 4D Cinema Experience which was really pretty cool but I won't give away what happens. Then we got the lift up the tower, passing by workmen on it on the way. At the top, you walk straight out onto a glass floor 380 feet above the ground.

There were 3 further higher levels one could get stairs up to, topping out at probably about 425 feet although the views from those aren't quite as good due to netting getting in the way. The views you do get though are absolutely breathtaking.Read more
