Golden baby Jesus throwing the peace ✌️ sign? I love this! Had to learn more from my AI friends… “The statue of the Christ Child in the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome is housed within the Crypt of the Nativity, also referred to as the Bethlehem Crypt. The crystal reliquary that holds the statue and fragments of the Holy Crib was designed by Giuseppe Valadier in the early 19th century, replacing an earlier reliquary from the 1600s that was stolen by Napoleonic troops. While Giuseppe Valadier created the reliquary, it is important to note that the golden statue of the Christ Child itself is much older, dating back to the 13th century. The statue is a significant object of veneration, with the reliquary containing what are believed to be pieces of the manger where Jesus was laid.”
