    Brisbane to Singapore

    25 oktober, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

The joys of cattle class! I think the seats are getting smaller, and the legroom less on international flights. An eight hour first leg plus an eight hour wait before we hfly out to change Mai . Changi layover highlights are of course the gardens-orchids, butterfly, cacti and the sunflower garden. We decided on a chair massage which proved to be a total pummeling of my back. Golly it hurt. We are a lovely group of about 8 keen golfers, with a few more coming a bit later.Läs mer

  • Singapore to Chiang Mai-Sat 25

    25 oktober, Singapore ⋅ ☁️ 32 °C

A little more of our long layover in Singapore. I could could be a tour guide on the Skytrain, Michelle and I hopped on and off checking out gardens all around the airport. Some travellers were less active. Loved the cacti, water lillies and the world’s tallest/ highest man-made waterfall
Flight time 3hours🙏🤞🤞🤞to Ciang Mai. At the Centara Riverside now and am all settled in.

  • Chiang Mai

    26 oktober, Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

We arrived in Chiang Mai and the gang of golfers are ready for action after a good sleep. A morning walk by the river to start the day. It's great to be in a nice hotel. The rooms are huge, the pool looks good and the food is excellentLäs mer

  • Royal Chiang Mai Golf club

    27 oktober, Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

We hit the fairways and missed many at RCMGC🙃🥲😋Lovely setting out in the country, thru the traffic and rice paddies. First time with a caddy, in a buggy. Phong was lovely and her guidance was good. I just didn't execute very well. ahh welll. Headed to the market, but very quiet except for a few diehards determined to get rid of the days produce. Hit the pool, did 10 laps!!!and off for a foot passage... Life’s tough. So the massage was great followed by an amazing buffet at the German Club - pure stodge😊Läs mer

  • Golf Chiang Mai Highlands

    28 oktober, Thailand ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

A simply beautiful setting - mountains all around. The peace and quiet are such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city 45mins away. Everyone played better today, possibly getting used to having a caddy and preferred lie. I climbed up the leader board, but still way behind the leaders!🙃⛳️ After golf another massage- this time, neck and shoulders. A few pics of the Centara Hotel and the crazy powerlines to start our galleryLäs mer

  • Yummy Tasty cooking school

    29 oktober, Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Five gold stars to the best cooking school in Chiang Mai- Yummy Tasty Thai Cooking School. Our guide and teacher, Sky, was brilliant -funny, fast and professional. Everyone of the ten students in our group came away learning something about Thai ingredients, and successfully cooked and dined on five dishes. We started at the market, where learned about our ingredients, then wound our way through the back streets to cooking school. We had each selected our dishes and sky instructed us on prep, then cooking.…. I learned Pad Thai, Hot and Sour Prawn Creamy Soup, Papaya Salad, green curry and pumpkin in coconut milk
Reckon the Creamy soup and mango sticky rice won the day.
Followed up cooking school with a full body massage.. Who would believe this!

  • Alpine golf and tuktuk adventures

    30 oktober, Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Chiang Mai-Lots of fun in Thailand’s city of temples, motor scooters, markets, food and GOLF. Alpine golf club is our favourite so far, 45 mins from CM. I am coming 4th in the comp, so will play with the leaders- ahhh - for the final round. After golf Michelle and I hopped into a Tutuk for a couple hours for a tour of the old city. It was great to whizz thru the chaos of a city that somehow works! There is no idleness, everyone is working - from the women golf caddies who tell you what club to use and where to hit, to the market stall holders selling clothes, fruit, frogs, flowers, pad Thai takeaways and bbq’d scorpions. Every other shop provides massage or is home to motor mechanics. The monks are busy decorating temples for the upcoming Light Festival.
Chiang Mai is a place of endless fascination. People are polite, and industrious in a city where Buddhism still prevails, but the need to eek out a living where there is no social welfare drives and motivates.

  • Tuk tuk 2 and the art of massage

    31 oktober, Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Our enterprising tuk tuk driver Mr Tawat has a thriving little tourism business and could organise any adventure you want. There is a pretty standard price, but unless you attempt to bargain you’ll pay tourist rates!😊 I love markets and there are so many in Chiang Mai- night markets where lady- boys entertain as you browse the stalls or eat at any one of a 100 food stalls selling variations of a few dishes. The daily produce markets and flower markets have endless supplies- where does it come from? Backyard gardens, farms, imports, I don't know. There is the odd supermarket, and I wonder how long till they takeover. Regardless I love a wander
Massage is a mystery. A combination of soothing muscles, to finding pressure points that are agony. The art of massage seems to link with meditation and the Buddhist way

  • Market fun

    1 november, Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Marion, Sharron and I had a hoot at the market. We tried every trick in the book to find table cloths and tea towels for friends - even duo lingo, but our translation came out ‘tea towel’😊we settled for scarves, lanterns and fake money! The tuk tuk driver took us to the lantern festival site, which would be superb at night!! Had a good laughLäs mer
