• Pier 39, Cable Cars & Zig-Zag Rd

    27 September 2024, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

After we departed the ferry we walked to Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39. We were both quite hungry so we decided to stop at the Hard Rock Cafe. They had a Gluten Free menu so we decided to share a chicken sandwich and Scott got a beer while I had a lemonade with strawberries and mint which was so refreshing. The food was delicious and just enough for lunch.

We walked through Fisherman’s Whatf, but apart from shops there wasn’t much to do. Scott wanted to go on the Cable Cars so we walked a couple of blocks. We purchased the day ticket so we could ride up and down the street. We waited for about 30 minutes until it was our turn. Scott wanted to hang onto the outside of the cable car so he stood at the front and I was behind him. It was really fun going up the street hanging onto the cable car, especially as some of the streets were really steep. We arrived at our destination and walked through the Cable Car museum, before catching the Cable Car to the Zig Zag Road.

The road was built in 1922 by the residents who lived on the street to reduce its steep 27% grade, and now attracted up to 1 million visitors every year. Scott and I walked up and down the road trying to take photos to show the zig zags but without a drone it was difficult to see.
