Lourdes - 1st look

Jubile year in Lourdes. Met up with friends. Cloudy overcast day.

After a long walk from Lourdes. We spent the night in a monastery called Sanctuary de St Michael . Being Sunday not much was open but we found a restaurant at the campground about 1/2 mile away
Betharram to Arudy

Betharram to Arudy 16+ miles. A soul crushing day. Heat, loooooong hills and a few wrong turns. About 10 hours of walking . Just wanted to be done!✅
Arudy - Oloron St Marie

This was an absolutely gorgeous day but it got hot. Later in the day We ended up taking a swim in a river - it was cold 🥶 but felt so good to lower the body temperature.
Olorn St Marie to L’hôpital St Blaise

Another long and Challenging day. Rolled into Town about 5:45. Dormitory style tonight. Microwave ‘gourmet ‘ meal!
Leaving Mauleon

Started hiking out of Mauléon lots of steep hills. Our hotel host was so accommodating. Nice buffet breakfast and they even packed a lunch for us!
Hot day #3

We set out to only do 10 of the 27k planned. We made the decision to skip ahead because of the dangerous heat.
Change in plans - skipping ahead to St J

To hot and the remaining sections are labeled as the hardest yet! Time to catch the bus (only 1.3€!!) and just like that we are back is St Jean Pied de Port.

Arrived at the lovely home of John & Sinead. Lovely setting near Killarney & Dingle
Rossbeigh Ireland

Sinéad and John giving us a great local tour to start our visit. Rossbeigh, Dukes, Cromane! Even got our first 99er!!
Killorglin Ireland, Co Kerry

Lovely visit to town and to visit Sinead’s Dad who, at 90, still lives in the family home on Steelroe and is a master gardener.
Dingle

The weather cleared up for the morning and Sinéad took us on a lovely tour of the Dingle peninsula and Slea Head !
Goodbye Ireland !

After a day of travel by Dublin City bus, through the crowds in town for the Gaelic football match and a lovely visit with Sheila’s Cousin Tom McGrogan we say goodbye to Ireland and head to LuzernWeiterlesen
Welcome to Lucerne - Part 3 Begins

Flew from Dublin to Zurich. Beautiful limo / van ride through the mountains to Luzern. A city of unmatched beauty and charm.
Mt Pilatus!

Today, after a workout and a lovely breakfast buffet, we took the city bus to the Mt Pilatus gondola-to the top. Words and photos cannot do justice to Gods majestic creations!

Goodbye Lucerne

Final 1/2 day in Lucerne. Nice walk up to a midevil castle walk and climbing into a clock tower. Next we took a short boat tour on the lake. We finished with a trip to the Rosengart museum so SheilaWeiterlesen
Hello Viking River Cruise

After a short bus ride from Lucerne we arrived in Basel to begin the final leg of our journey aboard the Viking Sigrun. It was over 100°f. So we were glad to be on board in an air conditioned room!

Arrived in Koblenz after a beautiful (but overcast) day Sailing through the Middle gorge. Bus ride to an informative tour of Marksburg Castle
Cologne!

Learned a great deal during our guided walk today. The Cologne Cathedral is awesome. The rest of Cologne is pretty boring.
