Verona

An early departure from Assisi started a day of travel adventures. I discovered that my first train stopped before its intended destination due to track maintenance. There was “replacement bus” service to continue, but that was delayed due to road construction. (Side note: the bus driver was a total badass. They were closing a ramp on our intended route, so he stopped and coolly executed a 3-point turn to go another way. So impressive!) This of course meant I missed my next two trains, but I made it to Verona only an hour later than intended.

I had a very hot walk to my hotel, then lunch and a nap before my friend Angela arrived. We walked around a bit and had drinks and dinner. A bit more walking about this morning before hopping on a train to the Alps!Read more
