  • Bogota

    12 de agosto de 2022, Colômbia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

The long Journey south had finally reached the last country, Colombia.
While this trip is called mexico to Argentina, many of my plans had changed drastically over the course of the weeks and months. What had never changed was the plan to spend a large chunk of my time in the beautiful country that is colombia.

First stop bogota. I ended up spending a week here possibly because i needed to get my new glasses made. Many people run through Bogota, devoting a few days at best to the capitol. I was pleasantly surprised with how much i enjoyed my stay.

Activities included: games of street chess with strangers, visiting the array of old structures and architecture, food, food, food, and a very hungover hike to the city's viewpoint, Monserrate.

  • Cartagena

    18 de agosto de 2022, Colômbia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

It was an easy decision for how to arrive to Cartagena since flying (1.5 hours) costs £14 more than taking a bus (24 hours).

I again forgot to take many photos of my 4 day trip to Cartagena. Regardless, i had a great time wandering through the old city or enjoying my time near the beach.Leia mais

  • Santa Marta

    22 de agosto de 2022, Colômbia ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

There isn't much i can say to describe Santa Marta other than a stopping point.

I'm sure that many people habe enjoyed their time in this city but i barely saw anything outside the hostel except for wandering along one of the busy roads.

So here's the only picture i have, Ben and the chinese takeaway we ordered.

  • Finca (Minca)

    23 de agosto de 2022, Colômbia ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

When boarding the bus to Minca, me and ben were coincidentally joined by Georgia, Johnny and Maya who i previously spent time with in Bogota.

It wasn't until we arrived in Minca after a 45 minute bus that we realised our hostel was on the opposite side of the valley which resulted in another 45 minute bus and 30 minute moto(bike) taxi.

The hostel was a lovely little forest retreat with a farm to plate kitchen and not one, not two, but three whole swimming pools. Luxury.

  • Tayrona park: Pt 1

    27 de agosto de 2022, Colômbia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Tayrona park is a large national park in the north of Colombia with a large amount of nature and coastline.

We spent one night here camping in hammocks. The mistake we made was booking hammocks on the other side of the park resulting in a 3 hour hike turning into a 7 hour/30km hike.

This could've easily been avoided but it did allow us to see a lot of the park and add another hike to the list.

Plenty of pictures of this one so it comes in 2 parts.

  • Tayrona Park: Pt 2

    28 de agosto de 2022, Colômbia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

After setting off at 8am, we didn't reach the campsite until 7pm after taking some well deserved breaks on the various beaches.

The real difficulty was navigating through the very poorly laid-out paths which had a severe lack of directions.

Although this was a very tiring day and poor nights sleep in the hammock, this was an excellent experience and I'd happily do it again.

  • Palomino

    30 de agosto de 2022, Colômbia ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

From staying on a river to back to the coast. Palomino is a small coastal town known by backpackers for its nightlife, beach parties and surfing.

Unfortunately, we arrived too early in the week for the beach parties and i was not fussed about surfing either.

It was however, a lovely hostel for everything else. I have definitely learnt that i prefer a pool to the beach.
