    A glorious assault on the senses after weeks of mostly rural vanlife. I loved it.
    A wee canal trip where met some fellow Scots and had the most outlandishly hilarious banter.
    So much to look at meandering round the old city streets and loads cafes for breaks.

    Weed scents wafting everywhere..
    Hundreds of wee shops selling all sorts of dubious substances and tat.
    Red light district fascinating, as was Red Light Secrets Museum about life of prostitutes. Prostitution is highly regulated in Amsterdam. The museum had a hilarious confessions wall. Did I leave one?Read more

    Travel fatigue & Van Gogh

    Many uninteresting miles into Nederlands followed by a visit to Kröller Möller Museum near Arnhem where there was also a Van Gogh exhibition. I suppose I should have been wowed but quite frankly, travel fatigue had set in, so....Van Gogh? Aye, whatever.Read more

    Lovely warm weather leaving Göteborg but dreich next morning in Kiel. Very calm voyage.
    Ages getting on boat so delighted was nearly 1st off, get ahead of crowds....until...bastarding pre pubescent police pulled me over and had a hissy fit as my passport wasn't stamped. It didn't need to be as I had the new entry/exit done at Rotterdam. It took her half an hour phone calls to figure that one out, by which time, yep, last in queue again. The joys.Read more

    Drove to pitch up via Botanic Gardens which were quite magnificent, apart from discovering a tick burrowing to my bones. That'll teach me to moose hunt. Gothenburg traffic horrible. Pitch up in Långedrag great for watching boats and ships coming in and out Gothenburg. Great for cycling nearby too. Never seen so many boats. Must be mayhem in summerRead more

    Climbed Vetteberget in Fjällbacka. Amazing view from top of hunners of wee islands.
    On to overnight pitch in car park in Smögen.
    Both places very picturesque and obvs come to life big style in summer. Don't know what our issue with sea/lakes/lochs is in UK, our great fear of being in them (apart from the nascent 'wild' swimming movement). Here, it's a big thing from a young age - get in the water, enjoy it, play, have fun, get in a boat, a canoe, get wet, have a sauna!Read more

    Was excited for moose ranch in Ed, but not open till next week. Walked round perimeter a bit and spotted some in distance.

    Car park pitch up near sea in Bygdøy, Oslo. Hard to believe busy roads just stone's throw away. Great for cycling base and evening walks by sea.

    Vigeland park sculptures - most diverting.

    Fram museum. Interesting but horribly busy.

    Roseslottet in dreary rain which added to atmosphere. 3 words to describe would be harrowing, interesting, powerful.    Read more

    No not your grandmother...Couple of nights at Al and Siri's family get-away an hour or so north of Oslo. We stayed there in the winter about 26years ago. Great to be back

    Oh the excitement of finding moose poo right next to the van.
    The reindeer moss (cladonia stellaris, more a lichen than moss, that they eat) carpets whole mountain sides giving them a strange light greeny grey tinge.

    Started heading west to Ålesund but weather and forecast so bad that headed east instead. Chilled pitch up by river Lora, up dirt track, between forest and river. Lovely walk to old mill through Cairngorm-like forest and scenery, only thing different being colour of river.Read more

    Parted company with Al and Sam. They were heading south to get Sam's plane. Won't be the same without them. Geiranger fjord was spectacular from a distance but the village itself seething with tourists and fat Americans wobbling off the gargantuan cruise ship.
