French and Canadian war memorials

Found these fascinating and extremely moving. Grateful too to be alive now in time of peace and not grieving the wasteful loss of a son.
Peronne

Apart from backwards ride-on......Museum of Great War. Modern, with more everyday items placing fighting at Somme in societal context
Eperney, Champagne region

Champagne region. Passed some Moet et Chandon vines, but there are loads of 'champagne houses' hereaboots

Puy de Dome

Yukky day yesterday driving on busier roads through rain. Woke up to dusting snow and feckin freezing.....should I still go up Puy de Dome? Hmm, still snow and cloud at top...

Tarn gorge

Jaw dropping drive between towering cliffs. Pitch up St.Enimie right on river
Corniche des Cévennes

Out of the gorge and up along a higher route. Switchbacks, hairpins, gentle curves, sharp bend, open road, forest. This route had it all including spectacular views. Great driving.
Gorges and goats

More gorges... Gorges de l'Ardeche this time and instead of driving by river as in theTarn, the road takes you along the top looking down
First campsite since arriving

St Martin l'Ardeche at the end of the gorge, lovely nature based site. Needed break from travel, charge bike etc. And there is a pool!
Variety landscapes en route to Sault

Flame thrower, pre alps, Fanny's mess

Musée de la résistance, a private collection, just fascinating. Then plodding slowly alpwards with wee teasing glimpses on horizon. Sophie is just over yonder!
Les Alpes!
