The roads are narrow and mostly gravel , but whoever came up with the name " Top of the world Highway" definitely created an attraction . This road gets you from eastern Alaska to the northern most border crossing into the Klondike region of Canada. At the end , just before Dawson city (of gold rush fame) we reach the mighty Yukon river , the crossing is enabled by a small ferry ...no bridges here. Until the mid 1950's most of the goods and people came in via Stern Wheeler Ships down the Yukon and we admire some of the narrows they had to navigate in order to reach Whitehorse for supplies.Read more
