Biding Our Time in Foix

We had an extra day we forgot to count before our next week's reservation, so we scrambled to find a room for the night. On our way south, we saw a town on a hilltop, so we investigated, and found a WWI memorial statue. The rooster became a symbol of France's resistance and bravery during the war.

We had a night in Foix, a small city in southern France with a castle on a hill. A market was going on. We were able to check in at 5, and although the room has a crooked floor and hot pink walls, Julie and her husband are so sweet, which made up for it. They have sons, dogs, cats, kittens, guinea pigs and rabbits, two of each. Julie speaks very good English; she translates written documents from English to French. We were glad to meet them!Read more
