We tried to drive to Tamarindo (I wanted to go to a bookstore and we heard that is an expatriate community, so they might have one), but it was getting late, so we turned back. We didn’t want to go back the way we came, as the water was very high over the road in one area, so we turned North at Potrero and went through a hilly area with bad roads, until someone flagged us down and told us the road was out up ahead. A nice, sunny day for a change! We dropped Bruce off at the airport, then went driving to Liberia, since it was not raining. We wanted to go to Rincon de la Viega National Park, but the road was very bad, so we turned around. We stopped at the Sunburst Coffee store, learned more about production, saw a picture of coffee trees in bloom, and did some tasting. We also enjoyed an iced coffee.

That night we had dinner at Hard Rock Café. The food was okay but the people watching was great, as Costa Rica tied with Honduras in the soccer match, securing a place in the World Cup. This game had been postponed from Thursday due to the tropical storm. Czytaj więcej

Flight home from Liberia Airport

We left for the airport and got there without problems. Dean dropped off the rental car and his shuttle driver told him he’d had 6 feet of water in his house, and lost everything! We heard that at least 22 people in Central America lost their lives, including a 3 year old girl in Costa Rica. Our hearts go out to everyone there as they recover!

All in all, we had a great trip, because of the tours the first week and the nice people we met. Costa Rica is a beautiful country, but we don’t advise going during the middle of the rainy season! Czytaj więcej
