2021 FROG’N’TOADING

Two Jays Caravan and Camping is located at Bynoe in the Northern Territory and is situated on a 280 acre property that has the Finniss River as its rear boundary. The campground is newly established, having only opened in April 2019, and owners John and Julie are continuing to develop facilities.

The property has 24 powered campsites and there is also plenty of open space suitable for those who don’t need power. Everything from tents through to large motorhomes is catered for. The land that the sites are on is elevated, which is handy if you’re there in the wet season. Sites are level and there is some shade available. You are welcome to stay as long as you like, even long-term. Dogs are welcome as well but must be kept on a leash. For those in a group, or large families, there is also a 4-bedroom homestead available to stay in that sleeps up to eight people.

Facilities at Two Jays Caravan and Camping include an amenities block consisting of eight ensuite-style bathrooms, each with toilet, shower and basin, and a guests’ laundry. For socialising with other travellers you can gather around the communal fireplace, or if you have your own above-ground fire pit, you’re welcome to use that too. If there’s no wood by the fireplace you can collect some from around the property. The campground also has a shop where you can buy ice, gas, bait, drinks, basic food items, and other supplies.

If you’re looking for something to keep you occupied at Two Jays, there are plenty of animals including cattle, horses, buffalo, goats, guinea fowl, and dogs that you can say hello to and feed. Or you can head to the river and try your luck at catching black bream, redclaw (a freshwater crayfish) or cherabin (freshwater prawn).

John and Julie, who both used to work in the hospitality industry, have lived in the area for more than 20 years. They know the region well and offer good old-fashioned service and country hospitality.

HOW TO GET THERE
Hardcastle Road runs south from Fog Bay Road a few hundred metres east of Sandpalms Roadhouse at Bynoe (so if you’re coming from the east and you get to the roadhouse, you’ve gone too far). Two Jays Caravan and Camping is the first property on the right on Hardcastle Road and is well signed.

SITE ACCESS
The campground has room to accommodate vehicles and RVs of all sizes. After driving through the gateway into the property, follow the track for around 100 metres and stop at the first building on the left. Honk your horn and someone will come to help you. If arriving after 7 pm, phone first and they’ll tell you what you need to do on arrival.

FEES & BOOKINGS
