    Arrival Day

    September 19, 2025 in Switzerland ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We flew from Edinburgh to Zurich. Caught the train to Sargans, absolutely gorgeous train journey through Switzerland. We then got two buses to our Airbnb. A lovely upside house with a beautiful mountain view. Knackered after a day of traveling but still looking forward to the first day....19.6km... wish us luck!Read more

  • Day one 19.4km

    September 20, 2025 in Liechtenstein ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

So the 19.4 km is a little light... We did take a wrong turn!
Today was hot, around 32°. After our bus journey to our starting location we did the obligatory jump across the border into Austra. Our hike started in Schaanwald and we completed the first leg into Maureen (5.3km) . We then continued to Schellenberg ticking off another 6km. Powering through we did the last leg of the day ending in Ruggell 8.3km. We climbed a lot of mountain paths, hiked hills through villages and forests. Luckily the hike is very well signposted because both of our networks are not connecting! A thoroughly enjoyable day ending with a beer 🍺Read more

  • Day Two

    September 21, 2025 in Liechtenstein ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

14.5 km 29°c absolutely gorgeous day. Today we flipped the route to main work for us. We ended in the same place we ended yesterday. This was because wanted to swim in the outdoor lake near the end of our walk not the beginning. The first leg began in Nendeln ending in Bendern 8.9 km. Then on to Ruggell ending in the same place as yesterday. Beautiful views today but not as high as elevation was only 410 km. The highlight was Grossabunt park. We swam in the naturally filtered lake, cold at first but very refreshing. We only stayed around an hour before continuing our hike.Read more

  • Day Three

    September 22, 2025 in Switzerland ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Day 3 17° Raining 12.5km.. sort of. Today we woke to the sound of the rain. Looking out of the window there was poor visibility. Putting on waterproofs we headed out for the first leg Vaduz to Schaan 4.9km. A fairly flat route with some short hill climbs. Then on to Nendeln 7.6km... this took a drastic turn; taking us on a long ascent climbing 350m higher. The climb was nearly 3 km long and we felt every step. Sweating in our gortex coats. Unfortunately the walk had to end early at Planken. Due to the rain the path is slippy and dangerous so not advised to take. As we had wondered around Nendeln the day before we were happy to safely stop. Hopping on a bus we crossed the border to Switzerland to Sparta Bouldering so Brandon could have a play. I had a wander around Buchs then chilled in bouldering cafe with a obligatory beer and a book.Read more

  • Day 4

    September 23, 2025 in Liechtenstein ⋅ 🌫 12 °C

13.9 Km 14°C very light drizzle near the end of the walk. Today we our first leg was Vaduz 5.4 km uphill 191m downhill 79m. After a chat with the lady in the tourist office she was confident that we could do our second leg to Triesenberg safely despite the wet ground. This was because we were doing it backwards and climbing rather than descending the slippery slopes. Whilst in the tourist office we had our passports stamped and bought some patches. Pre climb we thought it best to gain some energy in the form of a cinnamon swirl.
The Triesenberg leg was 8.5km 559m uphill 255m downhill. We felt rather clever until we started the climbing... This went on and on and on. Over 3/4 of the walk was uphill, over 1100m above sea level. By the time we reached the top we were exhausted but rewarded with a view of ...clouds! We had poor visibility but it was still a beautiful sight. We then started our descent to Triesenberg which cleared up pretty swiftly. Another beautiful day.

  • Day 5

    September 24, 2025 in Liechtenstein ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

12°C, 15.4km. The last day...or is it? Today was day 5, the last day of the trail. We started our 5.4km left in Triesenberg heading to Triesen, above the clouds. Absolutely stunning views along the way. The clouds followed us but stayed away allowing us to stay dry. We then started the second leg; 10km, to Balzers our finish line. This was a rewarding, fairly flat route. It was as beautiful as the last 65km. We start this walk on the Austria border so finishing on the border of Switzerland felt like such an achievement. However I then announced to Brandon that I would like to do the additional 7km walk in the mountain town of Malbun. This will be nearly 15km as I am absolutely not getting on a ski lift so walking to the start point 🤣 So tomorrow... Will be our last day, maybe...Read more

  • Day 6 - Finale

    September 25, 2025 in Liechtenstein ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

5-14°C ❄️⛄🥶☔ Today the weather scuppered all plans. We had a plan A, B and C and all went out the window. We took a late bus up to Malbun hoping that the rain would of stopped by the time we got up there. It had but the snow topped peaks prevented us from doing a hike. We are not sufficiently equipped to hike in the snow. We went for a little walk around. Brandon did a round robin on the ski lift and then we went for a lovely meal at an Alpine Restaurant. We then decided to catch the bus back down to Vaduz to try and get out of the rain. Unfortunately still raining so went to get some cake and beer for an early afternoon chill in the apartment.Read more
