• Mikumi National Park

    September 8, 2024 in Tanzania ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Today, we only had a half-day of driving ahead of us. We passed another time through a part of the Great Rift Valley and even the Baobab Valley. Thanks to the early departure time and no issues on the road, we arrived at Mikumi by midday. As usual, we placed our tents at the campsite. Right after lunch, we started our Game Drive to the Mikumi National Park. Already on the road to reach the entrance of the park, we spotted a huge herd of giraffes. Inside the park, we found hippos, elephants, more giraffes, buffaloes, antilopes and even a crocodile strolling around.
After sunset, the guide got kind of nervous about the time, as the park was closing. However, he passed the exit sign in the opposite direction. We wondered, what he was about to do. A couple of minutes we had the answer: Apparently, he had gotten the information, that there were lions around. And indeed, as a very last suprise of the day, we got to see a family of lions, hanging around.
With just a couple of minutes delayed we reached the exit gate and headed back to our camp.
