Hardcastle crag Hebden Bridge

A walk up to Hardcastle crag today in the rain. It is the home of the northern hairy wood ant. Worker ants can reach sizes of up to 9 mm long; queens are larger, reaching 12 mm. I didn’t see any it was too wet and I think they were all washed away in the rain.
