A porcupine quill. Most Italians have never seen a porcupine, but their disgarded quills can be seen occasionally besides tracks in the wild. Porcupines are mostly found in North Africa, but they extend to Italy - there aren't that many in northern Italy. Gosh - Carolyn has found a quill!
