    Rurrenabaque

    Town before going into the amazon. We took a three day boat trip and saw lots of alligators, capaberas, turtles, birds (kingfishers, flamingos, vultures). We also swam with the pink dolphins and saw them swim around the alligators in a whirlwind to basically tell them to piss off.Read more

    Back to La Paz to get a bus to Uyuni for the salt flats. My first really long bus - 10 hours, not that long for South America.

    Laguna that turns red because it's Sooo windy that it pushed micro organisms up to the surface and makes it red! A very windy desert.

    Went for a hike in the desert and found a cave to watch the sunset from. So much sand! Beautiful volcanos in the background too.

  • Day 3 W Trek

    After a very snowy and windy day / morning we are on day 3 and got some beautiful views into the Frances valley. We stayed 2 nights it's Camp Italiano which wasn't part of the plan (or anyone else's plan) but it worked in our favour as the clouds cleared at Italiano and we got some beautiful views! Made me feel confident in my hiking decisions!Read more

  • Day 4 W trek

    Walked 18km around the W today. We are tired! Eaten many peanuts and staying at Chileno camp tonight which is a bit further up the mountain than our other campsites so it feels more secluded.

  • Villa La Agostura

    This region in Argentina is made up of lots of lovely long lakes between the mountains and is also famous for its delicious chocolate - perfect! Went around a forest and this little dog followed me. Finished the walk with some dried fruit and a banana milkshake 😍Read more

  • Hitching around Chile

    Met up with Cal after travelling south with an American and Brazilian couple. Been traveling around doing some nice hikes (Cerro Castillo) around forests, lakes and waterfalls. Staying in Coyhaique tonight and heading back up the Carretera Austral en la manana :)Read more

  • Chiloé

    Spontaneously got the boat from Chaiten to Chile's biggest island and SA's second. Had some fish (bad vegetarian) and explored some colourful towns for a few days. Very pretty and quaint - still lots of rain! Chiloe is famous for the churches and witchcraft and holding onto some Spanish traditions longer than continental chile.Read more

  • Flick the Rhino!

    One of my favourite things I've done so far!! The hostel I'm staying in have a wall with lots of paintings on so I painted "flick the rhino". I loved doing all the shading so much - it made me so happy! It was fun doing a painting so big that would be seen by many.Read more

  • Colca Canyon

    Jen and I did a 2 day trek into and out of the second deepest canyon in the world. 1000m down then 1000m up! Thighs had a good workout!

  • Salkantay trek to Machu Pichu

    A challenging 5 day trek to glaciers, jungle and finally Machu Pichu. We did a hike to Llontotambe which was where we could see Machu pichu from a far which was cool to see where it all fit in. Added in some zip lining and some lovely people it made for a very fun but tiring 5 days!Read more

  • Lake Titicaca

    Stayed with a host family on one of the islands in the lake. It's huge! There are also man made island in the shallow sections where people escaped the Inca tribes for a quieter and more peaceful life. Very hot in the day and very cold at night because it's so high. People are very spiritual here, speak Quechua not Spanish and we were taught some ceremonies to do with 'pachamama' which is mother earth in Quechua.Read more

    Don't have many pictures of Lima as it isn't a very pretty city, very functional! But here I met a really nice group of people from Alaska, Canada, Netherlands and Korea so we hung out, ate falafel, had some drinks and did some walking tours around Miraflores and Barranco, the two nice parts of the city.Read more
