Neue Heimat - New home

Hallo ihr Lieben,

nicht mal eine ganze Woche ist vergangen und schon fühle ich mich fast im Verzug einen Eintrag zu schreiben, da diese paar Tage so viel Neues gebracht haben. Brasilien hat mich mit offenen Armen empfangen und das liegt vor allem an meiner überaus herzlichen und lieben WG. Alle kümmern sich wie Geschwister und beste Freunde um mich, dabei weiß ich gar nicht wie mir geschieht da ich mit Fürsorge und Liebe regelrecht überhäuft werde. Schon nach so kurzer Zeit ist mir klar, dass wir hier in unserem kleinen Heim aufeinander aufpassen. Daher fühl ich mich bereits als ein fester Teil der WG, so als hätte das Häuschen in Brao Geraldo, Campinas nur so auf mich gewartet.
Seit meiner Ankunft habe ich etwas die Umgebung erkundet, war in meiner neuen Uni und habe viel Zeit mit meinen neuen Mitbewohnern verbracht. Alle neuen Eindrücke sind sehr intensiv, sodass alles mehr Farbe zu haben scheint. Zwischen dieser vielfallt bleiben einige Bilder und Eindrücke besonders hängen Sternenfrucht und Papaya - Platzregen - rote Erde.

Barao Geraldo, das Viertel in dem ich in dem nächsten Jahr leben werde, liegt außerhalb von Campinas. Das Zentrum von Barao Geraldo ist meine Universität, die Unicamp die kreisförmig angelegt ist. Die Uni ist frei für jeden zugänglich und mit circa 40.000 Studenten ziemlich groß. Auf dem Campus gibt es viele Bäume und zwei mal die Woche werden an Ständen regionale Gerichte, Früchte und Säfte verkauft. Meine Kurse werde ich im Nepam haben, einem Institut für Umweltforschung in einem Doktorantenkurs namens Umwelt und Gesellschaft. Nächste Woche gehen meine Kurse los und solange übe ich fleißig mein portugiesisch und genieße den neuen Alltag.

Um die Uni herum liegt das eigentliche Viertel, dass zum größten Teil von uns Studis bewohnt wird. Es gibt viele Bars, Restaurantes und Parks die zum verweilen einladen. Am besten gefallen mir aber die vielen Bäume und Palmen in denen man die Papageien zählen kann, die mich morgens aufwecken. Meine Mitbewohner sagen, manchmal hat man Glück und kann sogar Tukane sehen und in der Früh kommen die Kolibris in den Garten der Nachbarin.

Es ist also leicht sich wohl zu fühlen. Noch viel schöner ist allerdings it Atmosphäre im Haus. Wir wohnen hier zu fünft (momentan zu sechst da wir noch eine temporäre Mitbewohnerin haben) und alle sind sehr respektvoll, zuvorkommend und herzlich. Die letzten Tage haben wir viel Zeit zusammen verbracht, zusammen gekocht, Musik gemacht und sind ausgegangen. Es ist schon fast, als würde es zu gut passen.
Es fällt mir schwer zu beschreiben wie wir hier miteinander umgehen. Was jedoch am ehesten darankommt ist wohl nur eins - Familie!

Mit diesem Gefühl starte ich also in mein Abenteuer und habe jetzt schon Brasilien mit all seinen Farben und herzlichen Menschen in mein Herz geschlossen. Und ich kann alles was nocht kommt kaum erwarten!

Hello my dears,

not even a whole week has passed and I feel like there's too much to tell, already because these few days have brought so much. Brazil welcomed me with open arms and this is mainly due to my warm and thoughtful new housemates. Everyone takes care of me as if we were already best friends. It's just overwhelming. It's pretty clear that we take care of each other here in our small home. That's why I already feel as a part of the community, as if the little house in Brao Geraldo, Campinas, has been waiting for me ever since.

Since my arrival, I have explored the neighborhood, visited my new university and spent a lot of time with my new housemates. Everything is very intense and colorful these days. In between all the new impressions remain some pictures more clearly: tropical fruits - cloudbursts - red soil - friendship.

Barao Geraldo, the neighborhood where I will spend the next year, is located outside of Campinas. The center of Barao Geraldo is my university. The university is freely accessible to everyone and with about 40,000 students quite big. On the campus there are many trees and twice a week there are little stalls that sell regional dishes, fruits and juices. My courses will be at Nepam, an institute for environmental research. There I'm doing a course called Environment and Society. My classes will start next week and till then I'm busy practicing my Portuguese and enjoying my new everyday life.

Around the university is the neighborhood Barao Geraldo which is inhabited mostly by us students. There are many bars, restaurants and parks around. But the best is that everything is very green with many (palm) trees that are home to a bunch of parrots and other birds that use to wake me up in the morning. My roommates say that sometimes there are even toucans around and in the morning the hummingbirds are visiting our neighbor's garden.

So it's easy to enjoy life. Even more beautiful is the atmosphere in the house. We live here with five people (currently six because we have a temporary housemate). All are very respectful, courteous and warm. The last few days we spent a lot of time together, cooked together, played music in the garden and went out for drinks. It's almost too perfect.
It's hard for me to describe how we treat each other here. But whats maybe the closest is - family!

With this feeling, I start my adventure and already love Brazil for its amazing people and colorful life. I can not wait for what's next!Read more
