    April 29, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Today we left home around 9.30 am and have traveled 540kms to Wandoo campground for the night. We arrived around 4.30pm.
5 min setup and then a walk around to stretch the legs.

  • Quad bike

    May 2, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Yesterday afternoon/evening I went in the Coral Bay quad bike cruise. Was good fun. 9 bikes in total. Even saw a shovel nosed Ray at the turtle viewing spot. No turtles though.

  • Five Fingers snorkel

    May 5, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

An hour long snorkel on the reef at Five Fingers. We were on the lookout for turtles coz we were told there were quite a few a couple of days ago. Luckily, we found one. So many other reef fish, starfish, sea cucumber, rays, an eel and some urchins. A very pleasant time in the ocean.Read more

  • Fishing Charter

    May 6, 2025, Indian Ocean ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

Today was fishing charter day on Mahi Mahi. 12 people on board. One group of 7 young fellas who all grew up in the same town, but now live all over the country, joined up and made up most of the party. They polished of 60 beers in the 8 hour adventure.
So many fish were caught. I managed to keep 5 of the 8 I caught. The odd 3 were a small reef shark, a north west blowie and a juvenile red emperor. I kept 4 Goldband Snapper and a Saddletail Snapper. A good, but exhausting, day.

  • Point Billie.

    May 8, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

Today we traveled from Coral Bay to Point Billie, which is on the Ningaloo coast. Quite a warm trip where the temp reached 39 degrees when we were on the track for the last 15km.
We did a stop in Exmouth for fuel and groceries. For anyone wanting Chicken Twisties, they are $4 in Exmouth, not the $8.50 they wanted in Coral Bay!
Spent some time setting up and a swim and basically relaxing.

  • Point Billie

    May 9, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Not a lot to report today.
    Paddle and swim this morning.
After a lunch a drive down the coast to try and find the old Norwegian whaling station. Looks like the track has been closed due to sand dunes blown over the track? So a lazy afternoon with a couple of swims.Read more

  • South Lefroy

    May 11, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Not much on the agenda today.
So being Mothers Day, Kim got to choose. After a chat with Anthony this morning, it was a bacon and egg brekky. Then we loaded up some supplies and headed to the beach at South Lefroy where we spent a few hours. A better beach to swim at for sure. Wouldn’t recommend Billie Point for swimming.Read more

  • Whale Shark swim

    May 14, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Today was a bucket list thing, swimming with whale sharks. The tour group, Ningaloo Blue, were very good. All such happy people. First up was a snorkel so they could assess us. Then it was off to the whale shark. Luckily it was in shallow water so couldn’t really get away from us. Geez, they swim bloody fast! I was knackered after first swim just trying to keep up. But I managed to get some good pics n vid.Read more

  • Ultralight flight

    May 17, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

I’d often wondered what a flight in an ultralight would be like.
    Awesome. Loved it. Very controllable.
Did a 1 hour flight from Exmouth, out over Tantabiddi, down the coast to Tulki beach and back. Took an hour and I had control for 10 minutes, maybe 15? Saw whale sharks, manta ray, dugong and turtles. The whale sharks looked like tadpoles from 3000 feet. Bucket list ticked.Read more

  • Oyster Stack and Lakeside snorkel

    May 18, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

This morning we went for a snorkel to test Kim’s new rashie. We started at Oyster Stack which is closer to Yardie creek than Exmouth! It’s also a very rocky entry into the water. But it is a lovely snorkel spot with the coral quite shallow. Heaps of fish too.
Then we went to Lakeside which is a bit of a walk down the beach, but well worth it. It’s a short swim out to the bombies and coral but also well worth it. Heaps of fish, I saw two reef sharks and two turtles.
    Oh, the rashie works fine.

  • Exmouth was great

    May 20, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We had a really good time in Exmouth. Did heaps and still much more to do, we will be back again. The weather was sensational. It was great to catch up with Bob and Marama. We had good food and good beer.
There are plenty more beaches to take a dip at. More tracks to explore. And even more time for relaxing. But I’m not sure when we will next have time to come here. 🤔
We are now continuing our journey.

  • Bullara stay

    May 23, 2025 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

We’ve been in Bullara these last few days. What an amazing enterprise. Very clever. Entertainment. Beer n food. Coffee and scones. All in a big dust bowl. But very well organised. Apparently, burger is the finale for the week. 412 covers tonight. The burger was good.Read more

  • We are still travelling!

    June 5, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, mainly because we repeated some of our activities and/or have been lazy.
After Bullara went back to Coral Bay. We swam and pubbed (saw Big Al’s Wolf pack who were very good) and just lazed about. I went on another fishing charter and bagged out again.
Then into Carnarvon to catch up with shopping and Phil and Deb. I also stood on the moon.
Then into Gladstone Bay for a couple of days. Great place. But 18mm of rain the night before we left made the track out a bit treacherous. So much mud!
Then into Denham hoping for more swimming, canoeing and squid catching.
But today, a bit of a 4wd trek up to Cape Peron, Skipjack Point and Bottle Bay. A nice mornings adventure.
Heaps of birds. Saw some Eagles Rays, sharks, heaps of fish and a turtle.
We should have been more prepared and brought food with us so we could have spent more time out there.
