    Since we were flying on Mark's birthday, he was given this voucher for a free drink.The back of the voucher was signed by the crew members. Nice touch!Our approaching view of Los Angeles.A pretty smoggy city!

    Rented a car from Midway Car Rental that was 50% less than the other rental car companies. It's local only to LA and seems to set up facilities in hotel garages; we literally walked there from the LAX airport.Read more

    Griffith Observatory

    While touring LA, we visited the Griffith Observation Center. It's closed on Mondays, but there is a nice walking trail, and the view of LA is worth the visit.

    USS IOWA

    Visited the museum USS IOWA, which was docked next to our cruise ship.

    USS IOWA represents the largest — and last — class of battleships built by the United States Navy. These 'IOWA class' battleships served in every US conflict from World War II through the Gulf War in 1991.

    What's interesting is the USS Iowa was decommissioned twice and returned to service.    Read more

    Janine read in the morning while Mark attended a bridge class. Then we worked out and had a competitive game of shuffle board. Almost broke a sweat. Later we had a dinner party with our travel agent ending the night with a show.Read more

    Today is the official officers against guests. Everyone had fun. Later, we had our own bags tournament, which Mark and Shawn won followed closely by Nick and Janine. Later that night, our entertainment was Kenny James, a Motown group.Read more

    Visited 3rd Cousin in Hilo

    Karen Elam Sorbel, my 3rd cousin, and I figured out we could connect for the first time in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. We're related on my father's father's side of the family with our great grandfathers who were born in the same house Janine and I visited in Sweden last May. Karen and Mike were fantastic hosts. They have vacationed in Hilo for the last 10 winters. Thanks to their generous hospitality, we visited multiple sites and had a wonderful time.

    Full day: We All surfed waves on a 6-person canoe in the morning; then the Wagners & Westlunds drove around the east coast of the island in the afternoon while the Semadalas went to Pearl Harbor.

    Took a tour to the island of Taha'a that brought us to a Pearl farm, vanilla farm, a lookout on the hill, and then we snorkeled.
