  • More Anza trail

    February 16, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We walked another portion of the Juan Bautista Anza trail today. This actually started about 0.5 miles behind our place but we have to drive 4 miles to get there!! This home was mostly between golf courses and a huge wash. Birds everywhere. Saw 6 Vermillion Fly Catchers, 8 hummingbirds, some hawks and ravens. My Merlin app identified an Aberts Towhee! So many birds. The wash had many shrubs and trees in front of it so birds birds birds.Read more

  • Anza Trail / Loop Home

    February 29, 2024 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

We went for a walk along the Anza Trail south of Tubac. We were going to go in the opposite direction but there was no trail, only the signs for the trail. Thus, we ended up doing a walk we had previously done. After, we looped to Nogales and north thru Patagonia and Senoita. Great drive except for the paint striping truck we had to follow. They went 7 mph! Tried everyone's patience!Read more

  • De Anza trail by Tubac

    March 18, 2024 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 8 °C

We went for a walk by Tubac. We went north this time. After we crossed the road, a sign pointed us to the trail. We crossed the Santa Cruz River on three boards over it. This is the 'bridge'! We walked about a mile and the trail ended so we backtracked. Eventually we came to a trail off this one and took it. This was the correct trail. We crossed the river again and continued on our way. It appeared to end by the Tubac Golf Course so we turned back. We saw a cardinal, hummingbird, Vermillion flycatcher but saw and heard many others.Read more

  • Adamson Catino Trail #2

    March 19, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

We walked this trail again. They were working in the pecan orchard making the berms around the trees. No animal sightings just birds. After this walk we went to the Historic Canoa Ranch. Volunteers did a lot of work here saving the buildings. This was alive in the 1800s and early 1900s. The Mannings owned it. We walked around a 2 acre pond that had, in years past, been used for irrigation. At that time it was 5 acres.Read more
