  • Phoenix Botanical Gardens

    Sal, Sean, Chris and I went to the Botanical Gardens Sunday afternoon. 85⁰ sunny (a few clouds came as we were there) no wind. Oh my, there are a lot of cacti and plants to see. We went to the Butterfly room and the orchid display.Read more

  • Plants and Superstition Mountains

    Today we did a short walk outside the complex where lots of shrubs were still blooming. We decided to head to the Goldfield Ghost town. We enjoyed the view of the Superstition Mountains from the deck( hot) of the Saloon. Glad it was in the shade.Read more

  • Skydive field

    Today we checked out Pam and Jim's rental and proceeded to the Arizona Skydive field outside of Eloy. If you like watching skydivers, here's the place to be. You can hear them land. They have a grass covered landing zone about the size of the infield of a baseball field. It was warm 93⁰. I also got the chance to watch a guy reload his chute. This was done with meticulous care. Every fold had to be perfect.Read more

  • Tortilla Flats

    Today we decided to head to Tortilla Flats. This was part of the Apache Trail that was carved by hand and was used to build the dam at Roosevelt Lake. It took 13 hours back then to drive this road!
    Prior to the destination, we viewed Canyon Lake. The Dolly Paddle Boat takes you on a ride back into the lake.
    The town was hopping! It's tiny tiny with a group of older guys that have a band and play every day from 11 to 4.

  • Arizona Skydive

    This was another tremendous day watching sky divers. They had a 3 day training session for really experienced divers. They created formations. Many 20 person teams went up. It took 2 planes to haul them all. They practiced the formation on the ground multiple times. The formations break apart from the outside and do their descent. They would all land, one after the other in the landing area. They made it look so easy!Read more

  • Last walk in Mesa

    We took our last walk in the Mesa sun this morning. Another gorgeous morning. Sunny, no wind 68⁰ when we started. Plants are really starting to bloom as the irrigation is cranking up.

    We arrived home after a glorious time in AZ! Ran into some off and on winter weather but it's Spring in the Rockies!
