    1. April 2023 in Mauritius ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Today we had a chilled out slow morning after getting a bit sun kissed on the boat yesterday. Jacques walked into town and got us some delicious Mauritian snacks for lunch veg samosas, gateau piment (chickpea chilli cake) and fried eggplant. They were yum!

After lunch we caught the bus to Trou-aux Biches, which is a beautiful beach about 15 minutes south west of Grand Baie. There were heaps of cute little huts on the beach selling Mauritian food. While I relaxed on the beach with my book, Jacques went for a snorkel out to the reef and saw heaps of colourful fish and some massive ones too.

Later we walked further down the beach and checked out one of the fancy five star resorts that backed onto the beach. Jacques wanted to go swimming in their pool (him and Camille did it last time) but I was too scared of getting in trouble by the security guard 😂

For dinner we went to a restaurant called La Rougaille Creole, in a small laneway just around the corner from our hotel. It had some of the best ratings in the area. We ordered a seafood platter with fresh lobster, prawns, calamari and crab. I’d never seen a prawn so big. It was delish! Jacques had fun with the crab cracker trying to break the shell open 🦀 We finished with a banana and pineapple flambee’ followed by a shot of homemade rum (Gus loved it so much he had my shot plus his own 🤣)
