• Rest Day #1

    July 2, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

After a few big days of partying with mates, it was once again just Jack and me, so we spent the entire morning doing absolutely fuck all. The only time I left the room was to get some food, but because we took the Lime scooters, we ended up seeing quite a few nice parts of Palermo along the way.

Palermo is interesting because it seems to be divided into different market areas that are incredibly active and vibrant throughout the morning and afternoon. Then, as the markets start to wind down, the pubs and bars across the main roads seem to come alive and create an entirely different, but very fun, atmosphere. That was probably what I loved most about Palermo. There was always something happening.

Whether you wanted to party, drink, eat, explore markets or simply wander around, the city seemed to have everything you could want. At this point, Palermo had become my second-favourite city of the trip behind Florence. It managed to maintain a small-town atmosphere while still offering plenty to do.

After lunch, I once again ventured out of the room to get dinner. For whatever reason, Jack decided that we should eat at a very fancy steakhouse. I wasn’t exactly convinced, but I have to admit, it ended up being one of the best meals I’ve had in my entire life. It was fairly expensive and the portions were pretty small, so naturally, we ordered the cheapest meal we could find. Despite that, the steak was fucking incredible and easily made up for the lack of food on the plate.

It wasn’t a big meal, but it was enough to sustain me. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to sustain Jack. After dinner, Jack somehow got roped into going on a date with a girl, meaning he was once again dragged into another big night of drinking. I, on the other hand, was more than happy to return to the room, lie in bed and watch Netflix.
