  • 9 Hour Travel Day

    8. mai 2024, Colombia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Today was expected to be a 15 hour plus travel day with a potential 1am arrival, yet we were lucky enough to be given a sleep in. When we woke we dragged our bags to the boat that was quite late, so we hung around until it was time to head off. It began with a 2 hour boat trip, followed by a very confusing and chaotic tuk-tuk journey. Then we began the 8 hour bus trip. I don't know what his motive was, but he was not going slow. It was easily the bumpiest, most wild, and hectic bus trip ever. You spent more time in the air or on the seat next to you than your own. Eventually, we did arrive at about 10pm to our shock. We expected it to be much later. All that speeding and near death experiences paid off. It took us about an hour to find our Airbnb where we went to bed very quickly.Les mer

  • Cartagena pt.2

    9. mai 2024, Colombia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

After a needed sleep in and a chill morning, we didn't want to overextend on our first day. We just went for a walk through the sloth park and a brief wander around Getsemani before stopping for some drinks at Campiis. Round 2 after many weeks apart. We drank well into the night with Paul and George missing out due to being robbed. We couldn't believe it. We had spent so much time in the city and never had anything happen. They hadn't been here 24 hours and had to cough up 300 pounds.Les mer

    10. mai 2024, Colombia ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

After waking up and having a relaxing morning, Kaz and Coz left early to do a walking tour of the city while Sarah and I hung out before going for a wander of our own. After their tour, we joined them to explore the sloth park again, this time with Kaz to join. We then explored the colourful streets of Getsemani before meeting up with Paul and George to get the run down from the robbery yesterday. We felt horrible that they missed Campiis cocktails, so in an attempt to make them feel better, which in hindsight went horribly wrong, we thought we would take them for one in the afternoon. When we returned to get a takeaway cocktail, one of the robbers returned to talk to them. Although eventually they left him alone, it was a scary and stressful interaction that had them going back to the hostel. Once again, we felt very bad and decided to bring their drinks and a few more, catch them at their hostel and take them to our apartment. We made them dinner and got the further rundown. It was a great night and we had a lot of fun just chatting, though not sure it was enough for them to forget about the 300 pound and the scary second encounter.Les mer

  • Chocolate beer

    11. mai 2024, Colombia ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

After a good sleep in, we wandered toward the fort where Kaz and Coz went inside, while Sarah and I got lunch and a drink in the meantime. Once they were done, we went across the road to a chocolate museum and tried chocolate beer. It was like a chocolatey stout beer and very shit. We bought two between four and I couldn't even do half. It's worth a try, though. After this, it was a chill night as we got our shit ready for a travel day tomorrow and prepared to say our goodbyes.Les mer
