    Australia Zoo

    June 13, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Our last day was spent experiencing the ultimate Aussie adventure visiting Australian Zoo, near Beerwah, Sunshine Coast. The zoo occupies a total of 280 hectares. It was opened in 1970 by Bob and Lyn Irwin, parents to the Aussie icon Steve Irwin. It was then developed by Steve and his wife Terrie , with funds from their wildlife films and merchandise. Today visitors will see a wide variety of birds, mammals and reptiles as well as viewing the ever popular crocodiles. The spectacular expansive gardens provide a sanctuary for Australian and World wildlife. Also incorporated in the organisation is the Wildlife Warriors program which rescues and cares for injured wildlife outside the zoo. The visitor can experience conversation through exciting education displays. The zoo is directly involved in wildlife conservation for endangered species world wide.Read more
