Hervey Bay is home to some of the world's best whale watching encounters in a region recently accredited as a Whale Heritage Site. It is also the stepping off point to World Heritage listed Fraser Island, has some safe swimming beaches along the 16km Esplanade, sheltered and calm, protected by Fraser Island.
