• Falkirk — The Kelpies

    Two short rides by train and bus led me to Falkirk’s famous sculpture by Andy Scott titled “The Kelpies.” Using Clydesdales as models, the artist created these 100 foot high horse heads to honor the animals whose work contributed to Scotland’s success in the Industrial Revolution. They are situated in a large park along the Forth and Clyde Canal which connects Glasgow and Edinburgh. According to Scottish folklore, Kelpies are shape-shifting water spirits that live in the lochs and seas and take on the form of horses among other things.Read more
